Cost to full respray?

I would have thought £2K maybe £2.5 for a top job a with all prep work ?

Bloody hell my mate is offering me a good deal then. Quoted £1000 full respray but it would be done when they had spare time so might be without the zed for a month.
They guy is very good they work on lots of very expensive classics. Mates rates are great

I'm going on when I had my 911 stripped, restored and painted, I'm sure the resprayed part was about £2K and I'm going back at least 5yrs

Bare metal, windows out, change of colour respray or rub down, mask everything, refresh original colour respray?
My Corrado cost me over £2k over 10 years ago - took 2 weeks start to finish - and then still had to go back for remedial work as they'd refitted the seals before the paint had dried/cured properly.

Not in a position to yet, but thought about an option where I find a car thats cheap as the bodywork needs attention, then use the money I'd have saved to respray a totally different colour; possibly white. Would mean finding a car for around the £4k mark which will be tricky!
Its not usually an economical even with undesirable colours wont be at the detriment of the price certainly not to do a proper job. Even a fantastic job will never be as good as a factory finish either. If you can prep yourself you can save some money.
Then theres damage with stripping many cars have plastic snap clips which are hard to pry and easy to snap.

My final respray for Project Marmite is going to cost me around £1.2k thats a full strip down and repsray including door shuts... and beaing 'baked' in a heated spray room.

I would guestimate for a car the size of the Z you would be looking at something like £3k from a top painters - cost to the public, not a mate for cash job. If you wanted a blown over but masked everything without taking the car apart then well under a grand. Have to agree above some cars from the factory have a shocking finish and a pro paint shop would and do a much better finish - Essex Autosport for one.
It's worth thinking about resale time as well. With a full colour change.

In my personal experience:
Full re-paints etc, professional ones, do pay off and more-so, if you do go for the full monte, compared to a mere 'blow over' for example'.. Whilst they are NOT-SO cheap, they will pay dividends, come re-sale time..
M8's rates are as good, as their guarantee.. :!:
Best of luck though, but go for the best job you might be able to stretch to, financially..

? I like the hobby idea inkey but hobby's generally burn the lolly , especially where motors are involved :wink:
However way you look if its not a lifetime keeper ( with your penchant for the M i doubt it will be
) then you may as well pay the £7k & get a minter , keep it that way then jump out when you are ready with the wallet relatively unscathed
