Cost of your car when new-

Hi all -for those of us who have bought second hand -is there a way you can find out how much your car was originally bought for?-do stealers give this sort of info out?

mine was bmw pre-registered, the sales guy gave me a copy of the original invoive, he said he shouldn't have shown it me

The original invoice for mine was with the car when I bought it.

Something like £48k new (with options of course).

Parkers seem to still list the options prices for the E85/86 Z4. Not sure on the accuracy as it lists Nappa Leather as an option on the M and I'm sure it was standard? But it puts mine at £46k, bit more if leather was extra.

Why? Easily worked out, no mystery involved...what they paid for it would be more interesting :)

Sadly for me the ability to afford even the most basic spec Z4 new is beyond by wildest dreams.

However thanks to the bloke who bought the car new for £32,315.10 back in July 2004, i was able to pick the same car up 53 months later for £8,400. I work out thats £453 per month, every month for 4.5 years in depreciation alone! And looking at the history file, he didnt skimp on maintainance either.

I must say the enthusiasts who buy a Z4 brand new deserve big respect. I know if i had 40k to spend on a car i would chicken out and get a second hand 911 instead :zzzz:

surely it would be nice to know you have a car that originally cost a packet and you got it at a bargain price?

If you love it its a bargan, how many have a tin box at a bargan price and love it?

Oops, sorry, didn't mean your coupé Taz (referring to the 'tin box' comment above)

+1, I'm very indebted to those folk who buy these sort of cars new - I'm not in a position where I want to spend that amount on any car, so without them I wouldn't have a Z4. Just remember and spec them up well for folk like us in future :)

Damn, that's a lot of depreciation. I've got the original invoice from the first owner at home. Seem to recall it being around £33k, I bought it at 52 months old for less than a third of that. Scary.

I paid about 40k (25,170GBP) for mine at 7 years old ( 03 model bought it 2010) :o I wish I could get UK prices

Here in aus after our lovely import taxes the price on the original invoice in my glovebox is $137,210aud (86,350GBP) with options

It seems the z4 is another price bracket above down here, sadly. The cheapest z4MR in the country is $70,000 (44,000GBP). http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=9549513&__Qpb=true&Cr=1&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294967079%204294729561%204294966860%204294932151&SearchAction=N&silo=1011&seot=1&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=7&__sid=12BCB6039C11

If I was in the UK I would definitely be a z4 M roadster owner :driving: lol
