Cost of replacing rear coil spring

My 2003 3.0l has just gone in for MOT and they have failed it on a cracked rear coil spring, which I know is a common issue on these cars.

Does anyone know how much this is likely to cost at a BMW indi?

Also they advised that I should have both replaced, is that right?

Thanks

Simon

I was quoted £86 per spring from the main stealer, this price did not include fitting. I was lucky enough to speak to a mate who works in the trade and he managed to get them for me for £97 for the pair that was inclusive of vat. so nearly half price. gonna fit em today. (2004 2.5i) not sure if price difference for newer car.
It is advisable to do the two of them at the same time.
If you struggle to find at a decent price i was thinking i could investigate how much postage would be and possibly get you the springs for the same price i did plus the postage of course. Let me know if you want.

Got two springs replaced and laser alignment for £240. It's a different car, so worth every penny. An indy in Glasgow, (Weaver's) highly recommend them.

Cheers

Since the BMW springs don't "settle" at all, it's actually not necessary to do both at the same time.

A note on fitting; the blue painted bit should face the car and make sure you don't put them in upside down (like Williams did to mine! :headbang:)

I replaced mine myself last weekend. Easy job to do - just remove the rear wheel, undo the bolt on the bottom damper and use a bit of force. There is an excellent 'how to' guide on here.

Thanks for the advice and generous offer of sourcing for me.

I got them fitted for £230. The cost of the springs themselves on the invoice was about £120. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to do it myself and the MOT was out so i couldn't drive it until they were done.
