cornish summer chaos

Its those mad 6 weeks of school hols, everyone has come to cornwall, the roads are manic the beaches are manic , the whole place is manic ! great for the local economy but went for a surf at watergate and on a weekday couldnt get in the field car park cant have a meal in the pub apres surf as its queued out the door , three or four dropper inners on most waves, not only that but the jelly fish have turned up en mass also, little purple buggers. cant give the M its head as the roads are stacked ,cant get to the ski lake in under 1.5 hours on a saturday as the temple a30 widening works are still in a folder in the back of a drawer in some dot office, bet d. cameron doesnt sit in the traffic on his way to Rock and polzeath for his photo opportunity Holiday at home before he jets off to ibiza !!! Cant park the Z in case some emmet gives it a car park dent !!! :headbang: roll on september for quiet hoons and autumn swells. the one consolation is that there are still a few spots to surf and eat that most visitors would never find , and no I'm not naming them on here! everyone welcome to cornwall for yr hols, enjoy, hope you get lovely weather, just dont expect to have it to yourself, sort of a bit like the s. of france in august......Now, off to check out ryans peak or cave, or even chillies if the wind goes around !!! :thumbsup:
 
You've mentioned the high spots...loads of Brits holidaying at home bringing in £££s for the local and National economy and also highlighted the 'post September' quiet of the area.
Revel in living in a beautiful part of the UK and a surge in tourism...oh and decent weather, surf, food, roads and you drive quite a nice car. :thumbsup:

Always baffles me when people moan about stuff like this - you chose to live there knowing that was the case.
 
Be nice if you did share some of those places, just for us 8)

BTW, the roads are quite quiet over this way at the moment - everyone seems to have gone to Cornwall :evil:
 
didnt know you surfed bing, or are we talking quiet and remote places to eat? anyone coming to cornwall can pm me for some hidden gems, let me know the parts of cwll you will be heading to. :thumbsup:

We came down to cornwall beggning of july just before the summer hols and ot was still busy then cos of the weather

All though we picked the hottest week, the surf was flat apart from the first day :( so it was one day of long boarding/body boarding

Not always true actually. Some people are born and bread locals who pay through the nose for water bills to maintain the coastline in the south west....then.....when the weather is nice, cant get close to the beach due to the holiday makers!

Nothing against the tourists....they do support the local economy. Its the hotels/guesthouses that get me. They are the first to moan about a bad season etc, but when they have a good season they dont seem so public in giving back to the area (I say public, cos they arent on the news etc).

I go to Florida a lot and notice that the locals over there get perks in the tourist areas. Not the same down here.

+1 i'm 49 and guess what, ive lived here for 49yrs :thumbsup: wouldnt live anywhere else.

I've a place in Coniston and the traffic is horrendous in the Lake District during mid summer :headbang:
 
Tis a bugger getting held up in traffic so set off early you can still have fun on the roads coz the emits are still asleep / having their breakfast / getting over a hangover etc, etc. Just been to Plymouth this Sat so set off early, soon as I left the A30 onto the A38 it was clear and a great run. Yep we all moan at the wobble boxes on the roads and the slow ones this time of the year but that's nothing to live in' Kernowshire' As for crowded surf spots that aint going to change........... I do a lot more sailing these days its far less crowded and dare I say more enjoyable........... never thought I would say that, years ago the sea was empty at 6am............no longer, just inconsiderate gumbies who don't know the drop in rule.
