Cooling fan

Hi all,

I was wondering if this forum could help me once again. I have a 05 plate 2.5i and the fan keeps coming on as if the engine is getting too hot...

The weather here this morning was around 0.3 degrees so I am suprised it was on. This is also happening in normal 15-20 degrees?

Any ideas whats going on?

Thanks again

Luke

The only time i have experianced this was when in my Mk4 Golf when the water pump died. However it could be a simple failure of the thermostat.

The onyl time the fan on mine seems to have gone on is when i had it dyno'd.... normal driving inc in summer has never tripped it.

What does the engine temp dial show? does it ever go past the half way mark?

Thanks Aquazi, No the needle never moves past half way but the fan is coming on more and more, even with the heaters on full blast.... Its really strange and im sure it shouldnt be happening.

Is the thermostat a fairly simple procedure?

The fan should always run if the aircon is running & will also run if you have air con in 'econ' mode i.e air con compresser disengaged.

never heard mine running, and I never switch the air-con off (unless the roof is down)...
