cooling fan comes on in winter

Hello Z4-Forum just registered up this great site.. I purchased my 2003 z4 2.2 e85 model last summer
However in very cold winter months when temperature is well below freezing point my cooling fan switches on after approx 5 miles
going to work , in summer months I have no problem with it at all
took it to Bmw garage and they said Mmmm seems okay and said keep eye on over heating......
Does anyone have this problem ... so annoying Cheers

Do you have your aircon on or set to auto?
I believe, and people correct me if I am wrong but the cooling fan comes on when the aircon is on.

Hi. Thanks for the reply.
No air con on or other auxiliary items that would cause
fan to turn on.
Would understand if i was driving hard but just driving to
work 12miles then after about 6miles i hear the fan
kick in.
As where the temperature gauge is normal.
As soon as it peaks around freezing point it happens
warm weather not a problem.
Just one of those things that i have to put up with
maybe. .cheers
