Coolant level

Hi guys,

Had a look around the engine today while reading the owners manual. Decided to check coolant level and instead of seeing the floaty bit sticking out, there was nothing. Should I be panicking and filling it up ASAP? If so, what coolant should I use? Maybe I'm being thick or something and this is in fact nothing to do with coolant, but the manual diagram does say I'm in the right place.

Read up on coolant (yes, those Sunday afternoons do just fly by!) and it seems the BMW stuff is best. Can you get it online or only at a Beemer garage?
 
Mines similar, I can push the float down a great deal though and only pull it up tojust past the top of the cap so I assumed this was normal?

I just got mine at the stealers - didn't look online :oops:

Think it was about £15 for a litre and a half or something - quite expensive, it I couldn't figure out what else to use and knowing my luck I'd break it if I went and guessed...
