Coolant change

Hi guys,

3rd week with the Z4, already completed the rocker cover gasket change. Generally everything is going well.

Trying to carry out some maintence tasks, before starting on the cosmetics.

Next on the list is a coolant change. What coolant do people recommend for a 53 plate 2.5 manual. Also any tips would be appreciated.

I use the oem stuff from BMW. last time I purchased it, it cost about £10 for 1.5litres (3 litres with water added).
 
I’d also stick with the blue bmw stuff. Shame you can’t get it in 5L bottles though - or you couldn’t when I went to buy it 2 years ago anyway.

As mixing blue coolant with pink coolant can cause gumming, I’d stick with blue at least because you’ll never get the last dregs out unless you drop the new stuff.
 
BMW is a little more but can accept harder water, you can find out hardness online to get an idea and both BMW and Comma list the specs.
 
I also used genuine BMW when I changed mine towards the end of last year.

I also asked if they did in 5 litre bottles but they said only 1.5 litres.
