Cool 2014 Audi TT interior shots at CES

The RR Sport has a similar concept in the MY2014 - although the Sat Nav is simpler - what is clever is that on the move you get a paired down sat Nav - but at a junction it fills the screen as you no longer need speed and revs - clever and very easy to get use to it.

This looks a little the same I.e at rest you get the Nav - but I note the passenger gets nothing to look at! - some F type cues in the way there is a barrier on the right side of the console .

Screw the passenger and what they think! It's about being at one with the machine...not having someone natter in your ear. (Think Honda s2k!)

Oh the irony of that quote when speaking about an Audi TT (or nearly every other Audi for that matter).

I'm not sure if I like that or not. It all looks a bit, how to put this, messy and cluttered. Not at all Audi like actually. Let's see if it reduces in size as Zermatt suggests when on the move. I agree that the rev counter and speedo are too small in this photo though.

Some pretty neat features, and having that much info is great, however surprisingly not practical IMO.
The big sat nav would be great in centre console for the passenger/copilot to help navigate, but I'm sure it would cause a large number of accidents from drivers paying too mush attention head down in binnacle.

I'd much rather go for a heads up display glass on top of dash in centre or driver side to keep eyes at road level, with speedo number, rev / power meter and then basic sat nav directions with lane markings Ala tomtom and the like. So I hope bmw continue to extend their HUD displays.

The temperature gauge heater pods are great tho

Pps. I'm surprised none of the car manufacturers have teamed up with google glass to provide the fighter pilot type HUD display spectacles for the car - how cool would that be ... Or not :tumbleweed:

I've always thought that would be a great idea for motorcycle helmets, I'd buy one

I'm not sure, I reckon it might be pretty distracting having that on a bike. I'd much rather just a clear visor rather than cluttered with information or HUD read-outs.

as OG says I've never seen being one with the machine as being an Audi trait - Lotus, Caterham , Porsche yes- Audi TT ?? But I get your point

Give me a good set of analogue instruments any day and keep the complicated media/nav stuff high up on the dash in the drivers eyeline; it's one good point about the Zeds nav screen.

There was already a story of people getting distracted while wearing google glass. It may very well be in your line of sight so you're not moving your head away, but you're still engaged with whats on the screen rather than reality. That's where the problem arises. Just like talking on the phone while driving, you're still looking ahead, but are in a world of your own.

There was a case in America last month where a woman was ticketed for wearing a pair of google glasses whilst driving (something on the grounds of driving without due car and attention) and she's been taken to court over it.

This for me opens a nice can of worms with google, the prosecutor has to prove that the device was functioning in order for it to be a distraction, this can only come from google implying that they can obviously track what, where and when you are using it.

As for the arguments about being cluttered, I didn't think it was overly so, you can see most things at a glance and if you were on a hoon, you wouldn't have a prominent Nav screen up, just the rev counter slap in the middle.

OG - hopefully, as it's using the MBQ platform, which has received good press so far in the golf GTi and A3 for handling and driving dynamics, combined with some lighter components giving the coupe a weight of around 1200 kg will give a better driving car than previous iterations. But as it will be either front wheel or four wheel drive it's not going to trouble your ideology :D

But I can't wait

Just wait until your Nav goes wrong and your whole dashboard needs replacing!

I bet Audi service departments up and down the country are rubbing their hands in anticipation of 3-year old TT's coming in for repair!

SARS - that made me chuckle! The S3 saloon got a rubbish write up in EVO this month. Same old criticisms I'm afraid.

Like the look of the dash. Not sure I like the sat nav on the same screen as the Rev counter.

As sars mentions, you can have it in "classic" mode

I'll also be keeping an eye on the mk3 TT... Starting to appeal to me, and if it's as good as my current A3, I don't think I would hesitate... :driving:

Where do you view the sat Nav when in classic mode? Hope fuly there is another screen.

Probably in the middle of the screen which I think is showing the next gen MMI in the photo

Z4 Beemer, how do you like the handling of the new A3?

and I hope the interface can be configured to different styles, sat nav and revs for the hoon and sat nav and speed for the motorway
