Cooking smell

Got home from a quick (short) trip to Brighton and back to realise the car was smelling like it had cooked something, on closer inspection the front nearside wheel was so hot I couldn't get near it. It's going to get inspected on Friday, the earliest I could get it done.

I'm suspecting a bjorked bearing.

Not what you want unless it smelt like bacon :-) Binding/ceased caliper could be the cause too...

i suspect its a seized caliper too, especially if the wheel was smoking hot!

Fairly easy to fix yourself too if its the caliper.. as opposed to a bearing.

After letting it cool down overnight I jacked it up and the wheel spins freely but with a regular contact noise at one position in the rotation, warped disk I guess from a stuck caliper maybe?

Probably a warped disk.. so the caliper unstuck on its own without any assistance?

I was only able to jack the car up and spin the wheel, which I thought would be stuck but wasn't, slight grinding noise part way round each rotation, a lot of brake dust compared to offside front. When braking yesterday I had no pulling to one side (right side I guess with a left side stuck piston) but a squeak under 15 mph.

Oh dear, just been checking disc stocks and the 'normal' places don't seem to have any in stock.

The discs are only just over a year old, bought from c_w on here.

Looks like a calliper issue and I may have spotted it before disc and pads are too badly warped/damaged.
