Convertible top lift motor replacement

Well today I decided to remove the hydraulic lift motor with the through trunk method. Worst part by far is getting the bottom bucket out. Major major pita! You must pry it out until the tie wraps and mount break. I actually partly cut mine with tin snips.
Anyway the motor is shot. All rusted and won’t work. Anyone use the aftermarket motor and pump assembly? eBay has plenty of high priced oem used and untested.

Having had to replace mine recently I would suggest that you buy from a reputable source or where there is some form of guarantee. My experience was that the motor worked or sounded as if it was but the pump failed to do likewise. Budget £200 to £300 for a genuine oem replacement.

I bought and fitted this one almost 2 years ago and it has never failed once.

I'm guessing you may be in the USA.

So this thread about a Mustang roof motor may be worth a read:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1632329&hilit=Mustang+pump#p1632329
