Convertible top indicator light blinks...whats it mean?

As posted before the motor doesnt work on the z4 so I have been using it as a manual top. The buttons that operate the top blink and every so often when I press it, the top will unlatch and the windows will go down. Other times the light is off and nothing works. What should I fix/check, for it to work all the time so I dont have to use an allen bit to unlatch the top?

Ill keep this in mind...first time. Im hoping that I just need to get fluid or a used motor and that would solve the whole issue.

Yeah I thought about that, I just dont want to buy a motor and have it be something totally different.
