2012 Bmw Z4 convertible top does not work with brand new key fob from Bmw, old key fobs battery was low and dealer suggested new key, still does not work. Works with key in door and works from inside car buttons? Help?

Does the car have comfort access, do you need to insert the key and push the button to start the car?

Do you have two keys fob, if so is it working on the 2nd key?

Mine would not work off the key fob and the battery was the issue

You can only open the roof off the key fob and not close it. Does it not even open the roof?

I assumed this was opening the roof - battery in key fob seems odd as it will charge when you drive so unlikely to be that unless comfort access is fitted

i was told both my used key fobs that came with care were low on the battery and should go to BMW for new key fob, just picked up new key fob today, they said just put in key fob start car and that activates new fob, still does not work my convertible top.

Do you have to insert the fob into the dash on the left of the steering wheel to start the car, if so this normally charges the fob as you drive.

Where did you get the car from?

Mine wouldn't do it also, was able to recode it to drop the roof using the fob using Carly (Pbondar did it actually  )

The battery in the fob was low so the dealer suggested a new fob?
Why not suggest charging the battery in the fob or in the case of a replaceable battery, a new battery?
It seems to me the dealer has robbed you. :(

This is basically where I was heading with my questions, if the car has comfort access then a new battery and if no comfort access then put the fob in the slot and drive to charge.

I change my fobs over every 6 months to keep the both charged.

Op still hasn't said if he is expecting the roof to go up off the fob or if his issue is the roof not dropping

I would not be surprised if this is a vehicle battery issue :(

+1. Don't go there with worn tyres, they may sell you a new car. :)
Oh and BTW; hello and welcome
