Hya all. not been on here long but found this and thought i'd post it up.. just in case no one else has

Did mine a few weeks ago -now i wish i had not replaced the bungs,as Bing's roof mechanic thought it best to leave them off :headbang:
 
Yeah I did mine few weeks back too... I was going to leave them off but then decided against it. i think I would prefer spiders etc in the car than a broken roof motor say will pull them out when I get the chance as the blockage was directly behind them.

I've got a compressor and tonight attached a long pipe to the air blower and gave it a few hundred psi down the drain. Then poured water and all flowed nicely out the bottom. Phew!! Then with roof half down used some mould remover on the slightly green bits. Then a good layer of auto glym roof spray. Neat neat neat.

More excited about a trip to F A Wheels on sat for a refurb set of 108's in anthracite and polish rim for 300 quid which includes swapping tyres! I get new they get my old ones n £300. Bargain.

Now. Who can help upg my business hifi for me?? All I want is better bass.

How did you fire the trigger of the compressor when the hose is down in the car? I was thinking about that but can't get the air moving if I move the hose down the side.
 
The compressor came with one of those caninister jobbies you fill with water. It has about an 6 inch nozzle so I cut about 4 inch of garden hose and attached. Guided down the gap n PPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFTTTT. Then poured water down n looked. Clean flow. Then repeated PPPPFFFFTTTT. For good measure I sprayed WD40 into drain to allow a water repellant layer.

Bit crude but job done.
 
Hmm, any image / link for those "canister" jobbies as I could do with one of those?
 
I can take a pic tomorrow. It's a std bit of kit, small pint size bottle you put cleaning stuff in. Screw down air line connector and it creates an air fed cleaner. Try google or eBay for compressor cleaning bottle or better still eBay search air compressor 5 piece kit. You'll see

As yg54sg mentioned, helps to keep spiders and other creepy crawlies out. Might have very slight increase in road noise with them out. I've no special line on the real purpose, these are my speculations. Can't really think of a good reason to replace them.

Hya - just a quickie.. see this link and the air kit, its the part with the red cannister on. the nozzle is about 5 or 6 inches long and i attached a 4 inch bit of garden hose, then popped it down the drain hole and blew!

I managed to get the end of a garden hose pipe in the hole once the bung was out then allowed it to fill with water for 15 seconds pulled the hose and all sorts of crap came out all over the place :o
