Convenient opening and closing

Good afternoon

I have managed to open the roofnusing the key fob but keeping the open button pressed down, however it doesn't seem to work on closing. Any suggestions or is this normal?

Normal..on most cars in most areas of the world you can’t close the roof remotely without either an after market module aka ‘smart top’ or ‘comfort access’ which was fitted to only a small number of E89s..

Phondbar is correct, you need comfort access to close via the fob.
Look at the back of your key, if you see a small lid for a cell battery you have comfort access, see photo

There are comprehensive instructions available - from memory about 30mins.
Set it up from the pc/laptop prior to install - then its plug and play.
Remember to leave the usb tail discretely accessible for any subsequent updates to the module.

Although it’s not a BMW part, I got the main dealer to do mine when I swapped to the new car.
When it was fitted to the first car, a member of this forum (Terry B ) kindly fitted it for me. Perhaps if you ask for help ???

It also does a few other bits like auto-folding mirrors, one touch open/close when in the car, enables opening closing up to set speed limits too. I like mine.
