Convenient Access Z4 Coupé

According to pg 18 of the owner's manual for my shiny new Z4 Coupé, I can ask BMW UK to program the car so that a second click on the key fob will lower the driver's window. Is this so? The little asterisk next to the relevant paragraph makes me wonder if this is a market specific option or something.

As the coupé's doors are long and British car park spaces are narrow, this seems like a really good idea. In fact, such a good idea that it comes pre-programmed on the 3 Series Coupé.

Anyway, aside from the appalling delivery (boy, did the dealer screw it up!) and having to s-q-u-e-e-e-e-e-z-e past the door in tight spaces (see above!) I am enjoying the new car.

Ruby-black in case you were wondering. Expensive paint choice and looks exactly like the comes-as-standard black unless the sun is shining like it's just gone nova! :-)

Thanks! Going to have to wait for the next super-nova before it'll show up on my photos! When it's standing next to the black 1 series it is *just* about possible to tell the difference. Or so I kid myself!

Lets see that ruby black paint.

My roadster has this! As you say very handy when the space is tight! Don;t know if it standard as mine was a used car!

What did the dealer do to mess the delivery up?

Excuse my ignorance, but how does lowering the driver's window result in convenience?

In the states we can lower the top with the key fob....is that what you're referring to?

On mine holding down the open button for 2 seconds+ lowers both windows. Pressing lock in the same way puts them up again.

With the window down, getting into the car is much easier in tight spaces as you can lean over the door as you climb in, not just lean around it. I do the same when getting into it in my garage; makes life much easier.

Hi!

Where to start?

1 - I paid extra for an iPod dock to be fitted. Car arrives with no iPod dock. Went back to dealers, but they hadn't realised that I had a CD changer added as an option: seems you can't have both, but their computer didn't prevent both options being selected at the time of sale.

2 - The sat-nav spat out the DVD. Why? Wrong type of DVD for the Z4 system.

3 - Scratches on the paintwork, caused, by the looks of things, by someone being r-e-a-l careless when filling her up.

4 - The car clearly had not been checked over properly. Worst was when activating the voice control... the whole audio/communications system just died. Nothing, not shouting, prodding or swearing at the thing made any difference. :headbang: There was a loose panel under the steering wheel, flapping about. And a number of other small idiocies.

The car went back to the dealers and I told 'em I'd reject the thing unless everything was sorted asap. Aside from the iPod, the problems were resolved at the end of the last week: the dealers had clocked up 75 miles shuttling it back and forth, I'd driven it exactly 200 yards! It's back at the dealers this week for (finally!) the iPod to be fitted and for the above mentioned convenient access watcha-ma-call-it to be made available.

Yeah, yeah, I know, there are problems in the world and frankly some middle-aged guy bleating on about his second BMW not being perfect is a bit pathetic: but I really did expect better from BMW.

Mine does the same. However, there's an option (according to the handbook) to lower just the driver's window this way. As I live in a windy and damp part of the world, only one window opening keeps the car warmer and drier! :-)

Pretty sure that this is a dealer option so they should do it for you, they'll probably try and charge you though

As I have had the car for two days and they've had it for a week (their fault!) they beter not! Anyhow, this is the 5th car we've bought from them in the past 2 years, so I expect they are going to try very hard to get back into our good books: they're not the only BMW dealer around here, as I mentioned to them in passing...
