Control customs steering wheel

Dave, I've put a quote request into them. Possibly the postage to California will be the deal-killer. More to come.

Hey, Dave. I buy stuff from China all the time, I reckon most via eBay and Amazon, and am yet to be disappointed. There are literally hundreds of ships and aeroplanes moving stuff between China and America daily. Freight is cheap at that scale. Let’s see what the friends at Control Customs say.

Hi Phil 40
I kept my old steering wheel also
The price was £ 770
£250 deposit
Rest once they have completed work
Keeping the old wheel , for me was the best option.
I can now either sell the car with the extras or put back to stock and put the eisenman exhaust and steering wheel up for sale on here , you lucky people 😂..... idea of the steering wheel was to stop me getting bored with the car and selling it , hopefully it does it’s job . I’m hoping this will end up my final car if I can keep the love for her 😍

:o :o :o I want the same
Can i ask you the price of this steering wheel (without send old one) ? Very Expensive ?

Royal Steering Wheels do a wide range of finishes and mods at very reasonable prices , eg less than £200 for a flat bottom conversion plus custom finish...several Forum members have used them..

I’m very pleased with my Audi-esque version they did for me

I've had a couple of Royal wheels over the years, all have been fantastic. However, I think that you are missing the point since Royals are unable to provide carbon fibre finishes unlike control custom, so not a real alternative.

BrianD..thanks for pointing that out.. never explored whether they could of couldn't as I went for something simpler

Got reply from Control Custom. A+ on responsiveness. I’d have to buy and post a wheel to them. It seems there’s none to be found at local used parts shops. The postage back to America would be £90, but perhaps I can use the UPS corporate account. I ought to find a local company. Perhaps it’ll be easier. More to come.

Oh thanks for your information
But is it possible to send a steering wheel classical and pay for steering wheel with flat bottom ?
Or in other way, ask them a steering wheel with flat bottom directly (i want keep my original sterring wheel) ? :D

Phil, assuming your question is for me, the best would be to contact them directly. They're replying within minutes. [email protected]

I reckon the answer is yes. Post a stock E89 wheel to them, and they'll revert it bespoke to you. Now, whether any wheel model from any E89 will do, indeed, I'd like to know that too. Do they care just for the chassis, or the specific buttons, functions, airbag, etc, that fit your specific E89 model? I need to ask them that.

Cheers.

Dave, off topic but which Eisenmann did you go for...? Race or standard...? I ask as I’ve just had a cat back race delivered, just wondered what you thought of yours...

Your wheel is wonderful

Hi all
Only reason I went to control customs is I wanted a carbon wheel, as far as I know, royals don’t do them stand to be corrected 😬

Hi john e89
I went with the race eisenman
Only twin pipes though, really wish I had gone for quads now . But it meant added cost of rear diffuser, I’d just got the car , and was already testing the wife’s patients when I told her I needed a new exhaust. She’s as good as gold but I’d just spend too much cash, I thought I was taking the mick a bit 😬 really wish I had done the quad tails now though

Hi Dave, about carbon section, there are no "stains" after using wheel ? Like stains on screen mobile (need to clean after) ? :D

Quick Update: Control Customs said to mind which wheel to buy and post to them. (I took it to mean it doesn't seem it's 'one-size fits all' kind of thing. TBD.) They said when it's available again (in the UK/EU) they'll contact me. Nice of them. I only want flat bottom, sporty grips and perforated leather. And since it's all redone, I don't need a new wheel. With that, if one of you have an OEM wheel compatible with the sDrive35is, I'd entertain an offer.

Threadjack, Phil40, I've spent the 80s and 90s in Geneva. Salut, mon grand.
