Constant Beeping?

you know that "beeping" sound you get when you first get in the car and before you close the door, you stick the keys in the iginition?

well mine won't go away. any thoughts? perhaps pull the battery to reset everything?

Why don't you insert the key in ignition after you have shut the door and fastened your seat-belt? :P

Must be an American thing to remind you that you have got in car.

Saw something similar on Top Gear once, a bing when you got in, a bong when you put the keys in, another bing to let you know you didn't have a seatbelt on, then a bong again for the handbrake.

The one on the passenger seat that won't let youput anything heavier than a feather on it is bad enough. :)

I guess my passenger seat one has been disabled, as I can put 2x24 packs of 'beverage' cans on the seat without it beeping.

However my driver's side one does beep if I try to drive without the belt on - which is really annoying when you're driving round at 10mph on a circuit.

Think you will find the cans are just missing the sensor as the bottom is flat, sit someone in there it will do it.

If you put the keys in the ignition before you close the door, it will beep and continue to beep until you get annoyed enough to either close the door or take the keys out. No key in the ignition, no beep. Change your sequence and no beep.

i assume it's some electrical issue. of course i have tried closing the door, fastening seatbelt, etc. actually i started the car drove around all day blasting the music to try to drown it out (yes, very annoying to drive around with the beeping). then when i got home it was still going. locked the doors/turned on alarm via the middle button of the key and you could still hear it beeping.

came back to the car hours later and the beeping stopped. probably the 3rd time this has happened in past 2 years. goes away eventually every time so i'm not too worried about it, but just wondering if this is a common thing.

thx for the feedback

Hasn't happened to me (yet) so sounds like a switch. Still under warranty?

nope ... but now having other issues ... sound system not working ... might be my fault ... water got into the trunk when i pressure washed it and water sat in the battery/amp area ... didn't notice until days later since the trunk actually isn't wet
