Considering selling my Z4M wheels.....

I bought a set of mint ones off one of the guy's on here a few months ago for £500. That said I'm like others on here and keep all my old bits for when I sell the car or bike.

Always keep your stock wheels. They are not worth alot for resale, and hard to find when you need some quickly. Especially when it comes time to sell the car. People like buying stock cars, even more so with stock wheels

Really? Not on a Z4M, a set of CSL's would make the car much more sellable.

Not to one of the many people who use them as daily drivers. Much better ride and handling on 18s (anywhere other than a silky smooth racetrack).

I want a set of black OEMs.....

I don't subscribe to that, on CSL's with PS2's and now Super Sports my daily driver rides and handles really well. In fact the car was an instant improvement in both these qualities when I ditched the OEM 18's with the very poor original Contis for the 19's. The fact the Super Sports are a substantial step forward from the PS2's strengthens my argument in this I believe. I don't expect all to agree but even if you don't, the looks alone would be worth losing a bit in the ride department. The OEM 18's are god awful looking IMO.

Remember the M3 CSL came with these fitted as standard and didn't get much criticism in the handling department. Tyres are also a huge part of the equation, many go for mid range tyres in 19" sizes due to the pricing of the premium brands but for me the Michelins are worth every penny extra you pay for them, they're different class altogether. You'll have seen recent criticism on here of some of the Vredesteins for example which maybe aren't the optimum for a Z4M.

Anyway I'll guarantee you that with two identical cars, one with CSL's and one with OEM 18's, the CSL shod one will be more desireable and sell first.

I agree with most of this but having had an m3 and z4mc with 18's an 19's, always using good tyres. The handling and general poise of the car was better on 18's, would never have lived with 18's on a daily basis as the 19's in both cases are the nuts but then I'm a vain barsteward!!

i know that i"m entirely alone on this, but i dont think CSLs suit the z4 h it looks horribly over-wheeled to me (not so the e46 csl due to it's taller profile)

i really like the OEM wheels

Tyres are key, people who say the 19s "ruin" the ride are not talking sense, and it's worth noting you don't have to go wider. Cheaper tyres are heavier and offer a stiff ride in comparison to other brands.

The 18s do look better on the roadster than the Coupe though.

It would be a boring place if we all agreed and of course your opinion is as valid as mine. What I'm arguing is, and you seem to agree, that on a Z4M the vast majority of potential owners would rather get a car with genuine CSL's on it than the standard 18's. That's why I disagreed with dubsesd, he may be correct in relation to other cars but not the Z4M IMO.

i think you'd made more money selling the CSLs separately than with the car though.

Agreed but it's worth taking a bit of a hit to sell quicker. If you buy the CSL's and tyres, run the car for 2 or 3 years and then sell it with them still on then you'll have had your moneys worth for me.

And I'll vouch for the opposite. There's only been one 'criticism' recently, and he was comparing it to the Goodyear Eagle F1's (of which I had the opposite experience). I feel with my 18's the Vred's have made a vast improvement and ARE an optimum tire for the Z4M (considering low noise, wear and dry/wet traction).

Not alone at all!

"Anyway I'll guarantee you that with two identical cars, one with CSL's and one with OEM 18's, the CSL shod one will be more desireable and sell first."

Not to me though!
