Considering a Zed, possible midlife crisis.... lol

It doesn't have to be a mid-life crisis choice. The crisis can happen at any time - I didn't buy one until I was in my 50s and then realized I should have done it years sooner. :roll: (Coincidentally my previous car was a 123d).

Good luck selling your 118d and finding your ideal Z4. :thumbsup:

lol Im only 34 but I have got an itch to scratch with roof off motoring I must admit! probably wont look back after getting one!

Cant stand my 118D only had it 4 months, bought before lock down, will now lose a lot of money due to Covid effecting prices, and I regret it more than any other car ive ever bought!

Hey Ross

Similar age to you and purchased my 2007 Z last summer as a weekend fun car, kept my daily driver for work. At the time because of the unexpected repairs I had to do, I regretted it and resented it massively if I am honest, BUT I can hand on heart say it has now been one of the most enjoyable purchases I've ever made and has been fine ever since. Like you I wanted something without a roof for the summer, and I keep finding myself going out for random drives at the minute and coming back with a huge smile on my face, they are great fun to drive. Will I lose money on this, yes no doubt, but IMO its the price to pay for the fun and enjoyment I have had out of it. I totally realise I am fortunate enough to have been in the position to do this.

Not all cars are the same of course and I got unlucky with some of the repairs on mine (even the AA inspection I had carried out on the vehicle before purchasing didn't catch them), but just make yourself aware of common faults that happen and budget for expensive parts for some of the big ones (water pump etc), check the MOT history online and if you can get someone who knows the cars to go with you and look.

They are such great cars, and I've been able to do a lot myself to it, other than the mechanical side but you will find plenty of recommendations on here for people to do that if you are like me.

Thanks for all the advice! After being out near the north Norfolk coast this afternoon and seeing convertibles everywhere (even a few lovely zeds) I now want one even more!!!!!
 
Well the 118d is now listed for sale! Fingers crossed it goes fairly fast but not sure what the markets like due to COVID.....

The wife’s even on board for me getting a zed! So it looks like I should be joining you all soon if my plan comes together!!

Ive looked at nothing but Z4s for the last week haha! got a viewing on my 118d tonight so fingers crossed I can then start a proper hunt!

I did come across a 3.0si coupe on Facebook in attleborough for 7k and its making me consider stretching my budget lol

its a real spanner in the works coz its local, low miles and well priced for a coupe......

Im not going to rush into anything though as I really must buy the "right" car this time or I face divorce! the 118d going so soon has not gone down well :rofl:

Haha if only the people “interested” in my 118d weren’t all time wasting idiots so I had the funds ready to go shopping!!

I hate selling cars!
