Considering a Z4

HI all, I have just joined the forum and am looking for a bit of advice. I am considering a Z4, probably a couple of years old with low mileaeg but am not sure which engine variant to go for.

Having test driven the 2.0 I have ruled it out along with the 1.8 as I want something with a littlemore poke but am not sure whether to head for the 3.0, 2.8 or the 2.5.

It would also be good to know what specificiation makes most sense from a residual value perspective as I am unlikley to keep the car for anymore that 2 years.

Finally, does anyone know what roadtax bracket the 3.0 falls into.

Thanks

B

Personally, I'd go for as big as you can afford, you'll only yearn for more power later on! I believe the VED will be £285 but not sure so I'm sure someone will be along to confirm/correct me.

Oh, and welcome to the fold :driving:

I've had my S35i two weeks now, the car is fantastic.

Can highly recommend the 3litre engine, especially when mated to the DCT box.

I taxed the car at the dealers using their computer, £285 RFT sounds about right.

I went for the highest spec I could find and just hope to drive/own this car for many years (I don't have a good record there, rarely keeping a car for two years).

I'm in the process of finding out about BMW Online/Connected Drive as this appears to have been cancelled. Still not sure if there are any benefits to this.

Welcome and Good Luck with your search.

Good feedback folks, thanks for the guidance. The more time I spend looking at these cars the more I think the 35i is the right answer. Hard to find a good one with the right kind of mileage and spec though.

Happy Hunting, I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers

So now the choice is the 35i or the 35is. If you want a manual then a 35i but if your okay with an auto then the DTC in the 35is with the extra power is lovely but will cost more than a similar spec'd 35i but now is a great time to be looking to buy.

Good luck with you search.

If you can stretch the 35is is worth every penny, and there are deals to be had. My one just sold on the forum (pending payment and collection next week) for £22k with only 23k on the clock and it was fully loaded.

Just be patient and the right car will come along, it may get a little more expensive come the summer but I think more cars will come on the market as people are waiting for the summer to sell.

Hi all, the search continues, finding the right combination of spec, mileage, price and number of owners is proving to be a challenge.

Question for you, what are main differences between the 3.0, the 35i and the 35is?

There are a few more 3.0 cars out there and I am thinking of going for one of them but am concerned that I may be compromising as I would ideally like a 35 with the DCT.

Cheers

Hi Bobster, just out of interest for you I ordered a new 35is from Sytner Nottingham on Tuesday and got what I think is a great deal, they all but matched broadspeed, so maybe the difference in new as opposed to a 2 year old one might not be too much, that is if you can find one with the spec you want as they are a bit thin on on the ground as I'm sure you know and obviously with a new one you can spec it how you want. As Angie4m said I reckon the extra grunt of the 35is will be worth the outlay.
