Considering a sports exhaust

I have been toying with the idea of getting a sports exhaust for my Coupe but I do have a couple of concerns:

!) Will it potentially loose any power/torque as I have read that the standard one is pretty much optimal for releasing power
2) will it be too loud, I just want to know i am driving a sports car not be deafened by it

Any advice on makes/options is welcome

Hi,
had mine done at christmas, best christmas present ever....
I asked for mid sport, was fine on short journeys, but 1st motorway experience noticed the drone in the cabin, took it back & he quitened it down to what i would have said, was exactly the sound i was after - the sound the car should have made (imo) when i bought it...
Not noticed any loss in power or torque, the only down side is the car doesnt do as many miles on a tank - due to the addictive noise....
Due to the fact that all z4s have stainless steel exhausts as standard, didnt seem any point having a full cat back system, as, once i was shown the exhaust on the ramp, he would have been changing 2 stainless pipes for 2 newer stainless pipes?? so opted for basically a back box replacement for £240...
Hope this helps,
Dave

You should also try removing one or both pieces of foam from the sound generator. It won't make it any noisier to the outside world, but you and your passenger will get a lot more noise.

Already did that 1 week after getting the car but It would be nice to have a proper sound from the exhaust for my next road trip :driving:

Of course the full benefit of a louder exhaust can only be achieved in a roadster with the roof down :poke:  ;)

Is the sound generator not enough :?

Knew it wouldn't be long before the Coupe banter started

I'm not absolutely certain I want an exhaust but do wonder if it will give me that bit extra enjoyment. But I really don't want to bother if i loose any bhp

I put the Hamann race exhaust on mine its loud when you step on it and quiet whilst crusing .comes with quad tips kind of expensive
