Considering a purchase...

Hi all,

I'm considering a purchase. What do you think of this? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201801082547862?sort=sponsored&maximum-badge-engine-size=2.0&make=BMW&advertising-location=at_cars&radius=1500&price-from=8000&price-to=11000&year-from=2009&postcode=me102rs&model=Z4&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&page=1

My concern is the mileage and whether its good value. What do you think?

Thanks,
Karl

Hi Karl, that’s cheap for a 20i but I don’t think I’ve seen one with that amount of miles on it :?
Once a car creeps over 100k miles it’s harder to sell on & it’s value is less, how long are you considering owning one?

Hadn't really thought about it. Current car busted so figured now is as good a time as any to pull the trigger on getting a car I've wanted for ages.

It's be doing my commute of approx 40 miles 4 days a week and the occasional weekend drive.

They seem to be holding up to use well going by the absence of major issues reported on here but you would be going into uncharted territory with it.
They’re pretty good as daily drivers, I’ve got a similar commute & average 40/45mpg which is pretty decent for a car like this.
You would get more long term peace of mind with a decent warranty for a year.

its not just mileage that counts, it's the literal chronological age of the vehicle also. Pretty soon cars like mine a 2009 23i with 80k will be over ten years old, as much a stumbling block for sales as high mileage. Its a balance between the two and just commiting to buy and enjoy the car for what it is and it is NOT an investment.

Price is about right with the mileage, I must say high mileage doesn't bother me if its been well maintained no reason it shouldn't go on for many years, yes you might get an issue crop up, but that's offset by the low price

If your still looking im selling mine shortly
Same colour but black interior and 3.0ltr manual
And only 47k mls
Just had mot and only done 1800 mls since last one hence the possible sale
Ill be putting it on ebay soonish

Dont worry about MPG Karl there not much different which engine you go for unless you drive it like you stole it.
Being sensible mine (2.5 ) does between 34 and 37 MPG

Don’t forget the 2litre turbo cars are a low tax band as well as being better on fuel :?

Will be looking for 10k min
I get mid 30 mpg and just under 40 on a long trip
Then again I'm 68 so drive like an old fart!

The service history with a car like this would be more important to me than the mileage.

I suspect you may get a better one however from a forum member
