Considering 255/35/19 & 235/35/19 on 10J & 9J

The genuine M2/3/4 437m wheels are the exact same offset as the Z4 E89 wheels e.g. 326M. That's one reason I went for them too, along with strength and lightness from being forged. The forging process is impressive to watch!

My reading on the subject suggested not messing around with offsets. Scrub radius:

Mainly because I think it looks a bit like a moon buggy!

and, I think having circa 250 BHP-ish it’s a bit ‘over-tyred’ - 255F / 275R - bigger isn’t always better, although I can understand why a 35i or 35is owner might want to go that big :?

I’m always interested on how the handling is affected by those sizes that are clearly a long way from the OE settings..

Without doing an A B swap you’ll never know..

Of course most oversized tyres/wheels are done for cosmetic reasons...

Again not sure how stretching a tyre over the widest rim works, but it won’t improve rim protection....

My e89 definitely feels more agile & lighter on its feet with 17” wheels/225 tyres, it doesn’t stop me from fitting the 19”s in the summer months though purely because they look so much better. It feels a little “clumsy” with the bigger wheels fitted :?

Yes so I can see that with a 30 profile, 265/275 works well... but, in theory, going down to 255/35/19 should also work but give a more compliant ride :?

I’m guessing the Veemann’s are 9.5J rear.

I’ve found a couple of posts from @mr wilks also advocating 255/35/19 on 9.5J and as a 10j rim is ‘only’ 12.7mm wider, I’m still thinking 255/35/19 is the way to

After much research For my 35is - stock in every way - I am getting a set of M437 genuine alloys and putting 265/30/19 on the rear and 235/30/R19 on the front. Seems 275/255 is a tad too much.

Does that sound OK guys please?

I suppose they arnt. Our 35i doesnt have adaptive suspension so I think sits higher than an 35is with adaptive suspension

Yes Dunlop’s Sportmaxx 2’s for £505 fitted MPS4S’s £517 fitted - but that’s for 235/35/19 F & 255/35/19 R 265/275 30’s are quite a bit more expensive

I’ve booked the car in for Wednesday, decided to go for the PS4S in 235/35/19 and 255/35/19.

Using the Michelin cashback offer to bring the price down.

This should alleviate the rear rub whilst retaining a decent amount of ride confront from the 35 profile rear, not to mention positively impact the dynamics and looks of the car

No rub on the rear at all but I get rub against the front wheel arch when reversing with any more than 50% rotation. It's very minor and causing no damage so at next tyre change I'll move to 245/35 on the front.

If the car was producing less power I'd probably reduce the rear width a little.

Yes, 100% certain - standard size 19 is 9J ET 40, 437M’s are 19 X 10 ET 40, so the rim sits 1 inch or circa 2.5cm further out, it probably looks like it pokes more than it does because of the massive tire 275 35 19 is pretty significantly bigger than 275 30 19

In addition, all the part numbers where engraved in all the right places and they were significantly lighter than the 18’s that came off, even with the massive tires fitted.

EDIT - also have the Fuchsfelge fox logo engraved, BMW & Germany - all seems to check out

Had the PS4S fitted earlier today, complete transformation to how the car feels and no rubbing at all

I’ll get some pics later, but looks much better to my eyes, although now considering Eibach Pro springs :roll:
