Connect mp3 or AUX input

I know there is quite a few threads on this topic but what is the simplest way to connect an mp3 player to the standard BMW radio apart from using an iTrip or other similar methods. I am surprised that there is no AUX at the back of the radio, thanks in advance

If you dont have an AUX you can retrofit - see here (rather long): AUX DIY

Why, do some of the standard radios have an AUX input on the back, sorry, i don't want to start removing panels until i know what i have to do. I was told that none of them had a AUX as standard

I think only after 2007 they became standard...

I had to buy a cable which plugs into the back of the radio and gives you a headphone socket to locate where you choose.

Sorry, i'm confused now, so do you mean that the AUX input on the back of the radio only became standard on 2007 onwards (so my 2003 won't have one) or should every model have the AUX input on the back of the radio.

Your radio has a socket at the back into which various options can be plugged in (such as CD Changer, Bluetooth Preparation, Sat Nav, AUX).

The AUX wasn't used in pre 2007 cars as standard, but you can buy the cable from the dealer which enables the aux and gives you the relevant headphone socket.

Oh ok cool, that's perfect, that's all i want, i have my own AUX to jack cable for it, that's all i need, thanks again... just have to figure out now how to get the damn radio out... lol, thanks again

Thanks, i have just search for a thread on removing the radio and all the links seem to be dead in the threads and the images seem to be missing, if anyone has a link to a working thread can they kindly post it, thanks in advance

Yep, that's good, sorry i actually just found that one after i replied. I thought the radio would have a simple AUX input connection on the back, i didn't know i was some special connection, thanks
