Connect a ctek battery conditioner to battery or engine posts?

Is the fag lighter power in front of gear stick a constant live ?
Mine has no power at presant so i cant tell.
On my boxster it was .my ctek as a comfort plug on it you plug into a constant live fag lighter supply.
I did it for years over the winter.
Ctek works it all out .fantastic addition to a ctek

Ctek chargers can be fitted direct to the battery. Went through this with Sytners at length...i have the connector that is permanently connected to the terminal studs and i just plug the ctek into the flylead when required..

Did they explain why the handbook is so specific in its instructions to connect under the bonnet ?

ronk,

on the E89 with IBS its pretty clear and comprehensive in this detailed explanation of the IBS

Some very clever stuff goes on and as it says charging direct across the terminals MAY be an issue..

I'm always perplexed by the "well my Dad smoked 80 Woodbines a day and he lived till he was .." type argurment about not following best or recommended practice!!!

Peter, we’re singing off the the same hymn sheet  indeed I posted a scan of the BMW instruction some time ago.
I was really interested in knowing what Synters have told Maybach man?

Ps. I like the 60 Woodbines analogy

You should connect it to the terminal in the engine bay.

I have hard wired a CTEK connector into my engine bay, they cost £4.99.

When the car is in the garage (car is always garaged when I am home), lift the bonnet, plug in (CTEK is mounted on the wall right next to the nearside front wheel), bonnet down, switch on, job's a good 'un.
I did the same thing. Bought my Ctek at BMW (couldn't find one anywhere local at the time) which came with an attachment to leave permanently connected under the bonnet. I just lif the bonnet, plug in the ctek and leave it on charge when it's in the garage. The lead fits between the headlight and bumper so I can close the bonnet, but usually leave it up, propped up to remind me it's connected, and to reduce any wear on the struts (probably not going to wear out in my possession, but no harm...)

Step change how did you fix to the charging post.
And where did you connect neg.
Do you just coil the lead up when using car .thanks
