Confused!!!!

So last week I drove to Kent and back twice in the Zed and was plagued by idiots tailgating me. Tonight I've driven down in the Jag XF and nobody bothered me at all. I was allowed to pull out to pass. Given respect of distance. Sure the XF is bigger and I'm sat more forward, but without doubt drivers behave differently.

I've owned and driven every size of vehicle (except semi trailers and gravel trucks  ) and the way you are treated is strikingly different depending which car you are in. ... In a one ton truck everyone gets out of the way, in a little two seater sportscar, you are the bottom of the food chain.

As for parking, I've never had any issues in ten years or so BUT I am the a** hole who takes two spots, parks on an angle , parks in the extra size moms and kids spots, parks on the far corner or next to a curb .... or the best...next to a reeeely expensive car like a brand new shiny Aston or Bentley, if available.

Defensive parking...it works.

Its one of those strange facts of life ...
If I park the Z4 ...9 times out of 10, somebody will park really close ..... scarily close
When I park the Jeep, people seem to keep well away .........

height it seems matters .............

Not height but more likely the impression of a car that is so well cared for that the owner will not carelessly ding their door into others - hence the Zed is preferable to park alongside compared to big boxy family workhorses full of booster seats and empty fruit shoot bottles as we are more likely to be careful opening our doors when we return.

Not had any bad parking issued. Take mine to Tesco in Callington, when the sun's out. Plus Mrs G parks it at the Chna Fleet Cub, once or twice a week. Have one tiney indentation, that I think happend at Tesco, but it's about 3mm and hasn't damaged the paint at all and there were also a few strange swirls on the Passenger side windscreen pillar, the other week. An hours pollishing soon had it sorted.

Other than that nothing bad in 2 1/2 years.

All come to Cornwall, I'll cook the burgers. Oh and bring a wet suit. 8)

I have found that people seem to care less about the z4 than my 1 series, I always park as far away from any other car as possible but since I've had the zed I find that whenever I come back to the car someone has always parked next to me despite a million empty spaces to choose from! I've been lucky with scratches so far but within the last 2 weeks a neighbour has reversed into my door (£1500 quote to repair!), someone has stolen my stubby and someone came onto my driveway to fold my mirrors up. I've asked everyone I know on the estate I live on to ask who it was cos it seems like a prank but no one has owned up. I live in Cornwall too, I moved here a year ago & can't believe how little the people round here seem to care about your property & don't mind bumping/scratching other peoples cars!

Time to go buy a sporty little steam traction engine and make like the locals. :D

I hate taking mine on the ferry for the summer trip. Folk come back to their vehicle carrying cases, pushchairs and all sorts of junk. They open doors to fill their own vehicles often as wide as they will go and squeeze past. They are generally oblivious to other peoples cars. :x

I think I've hit upon why Cornwall is so dangerous to us Zed owners........It's a massively scaled up GP surgery car park!

Like a GPs car park, Caaarnwaalll is full of old fellas and dear old biddys who have gone there to die, so what the hell are they going to bother about your lovely Zed? It's only when they smash into your Zed that they realise it's time to execute the next phase of their sixteen point turn manoeuvre so take some comfort in the fact that at least you are providing some form of charitable service in the way of a tangible boundary! :headbang:

I'm an old fella and sometimes take my Zed to the doctors! How do I fit into your obervations Mr G!

Ronk - I like it, I'm an old fella, don't live in Cornwall but I suspect you are like me and respect nearly all other drivers.

Certainly do and also have respect for other folks cars! Even at the Doctors!

ps. I'm not offended in any shape or form - I quite like the "look at that silver haired old fart in that car" comments. Long may it continue!

Seriously, search 'my kind of parking' in the e85/86 discussion section

Sorry to hear you've not had the greatest experience, but welcome to the forum

You are amongst some of the most paranoid parking people on the 'net. Generally distance from destination is directly related to reducing parking pain... So you'll get fit too !

I have actually lost 6kg since picking mine up in Feb!
