Confused over wind deflector

Hi all,

Been looking at BMWs wind deflector but slightly confused as too what is required

On realoem it seems too suggest you need alternative hoop covers to fit the deflector and its a hours job too fit

Looking on e-bay some dealers mention it fits most models but the deflector doesn't seems too fill the hoop gaps.

I'm kinda wandering whether to go for JustRoadsters tinted perspex deflector which is alot cheaper and just attached with straps and less obtrusive.

http://www.justroadster.com/products/wind_deflectors/wind_deflectors_BMW/BMW_Z4_2010/winddeflector_z4_2010.html

Many thanks,

Tim.

hello Tim... personally those perspex strap on ones look a bit naff with cable ties!!!... not seen a single other Zed with one. HOWEVER, Johnnyfive has clear prespex one which fits into exactly the same slot as the original fittings... came from the USA but lots of cash.

Personally, I like the original mesh one & am sure u could fine one of these somewhere

Cheers for the reply, the JustRoadster deflector has clear straps so theyre not really seen, some of the Z3 owners have one and its nicely made. I have BMWs mesh deflector which simply slips over the hoops.

I was going to order BMWs delector off e-bay but need too know it will fit straight on without messing with the hoops?

Cheers,

Tim.

You need this before you can fit the Genuine Wind Deflector
Why not just phone your dealer and add it to the order- its a lot cheaper to get it as an optional extra than genuine aftermarket.

Personally I still think its a waste of money myself either way :|

I agree add it to the order;mine was dealer fitted as an afterthought and ended up costing £475 but even at that price it was worth it.

Thanks for the replies, suitably unconfused now, but BMWs deflector is a tad pricey :o

I'm quite likeing Roadster Solutions perspex one but it will cost half as much again for import duty as found out before orfering from them :x

I might try JustRoadsters as its tinted.

Cheers,

Tim.

No you don't. All you do is pull the silver back covers off. You'll see some plastic posts in the front black covers that take the screws for the wind deflector guides - you just need to drill a couple of holes in the silver covers to allow the screws to pass through. All you do then is refit the back covers you can install the wind deflector which you can buy from Ebay -

Whole job took me less than an hour (could probably do it in 20 mins now). Also, if you muck up drilling the holes you were going to buy new covers anyway, but you won't if you take your time and make sure that the holes are in the right place.

couple pictures of the justroadster fitted

Im 2 going to have the OEM BMW wind deflector fitted at some point. Sometimes dealerships do offers on these along with ebay they pop up sometimes.

Not really keen on paying £320 (Best price quoted so far inc delivery) although if come the spring/summer i dont have 1 i will just have to make the plunge 8)

Cheers for the replies :D

Definitely will go for JustRoadsters deflector, I like the idea of a clear view between the seats.

I have the roaster solution one and i think its the dogs , if your worried about import tax iam sure one of our American forum friends could help out and post it to you for your Birthday  would probably cost about £200 with postage on today's exchange rate if my iphone is correct.
