Hi All. I have been thinking of getting a Z4 - Coupe or Roadster I have yet to decide but it is going to be a 3 litre, however I am a tad confused (it doesn't take much  ).

Please could you enlighten me as to the differences in model types...SE, SI etc..

Thanks

First off, welcome to the forum

This will help a lot better than any explanation I can provide... Forum FAQ

It will also give you a good idea of what the standard specs are, what the options are and what you can easily retrofit yourself. We all have our own opinions about things, but what count's most is what you want - colour, spec, etc.

I wouldn't rule out the SE, but with the M sport toys (seats, wheel, etc) I'd go for the Si Sport models. There are a few nice cars on here at the moment. It is a good time to buy

Good luck :driving:

as above post facelift se models not so desirable so personally I would avoid, other than that good luck with your search.

Thanks Guys, as is always the case with owner's forums (or is that forii or foreye :D ) a great help and very friendly.

I've got a 120D MSport for day to day, but absolutely love the Z4 (actually not the new ones, they've spoilt a classic imho).

Apologies to admin if this isn't the right place for a pikkie.

Welcome  shame you got to sell the RV8 thats the exact same colour combo as the one i sat in at Earls Court motorshow many moons ago do not see many RV8 on the road

There were only 2000 or so built Gaza, so it's not a common car.

However it hasn't got the looks of the Z4 Roadster, although performance is quite similar - the thing I'll miss IF I decide to go ahead is the V8 burble. Does a 3 litre Zed growl ?

V8 MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :D best sound in the world thats why i love Can-Am cars sooooo much.

E85 Hartge :D :D very nice and the right noise http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=100&i=8030

The Z sadly could growl a lot more it does sound nice though more of a refined noise and its a nice what i call lazy feel if you like not all revvy and urgent like my old 2.0 Calibra was which is what i wanted. The mod a lot of people do is to remove the foam from the sound generator so its more noisy in the cabin although it is fun at first it can really howl on the motorway and my brother said it was like being in a modified hot hatch mine is now refitted but its less than a minute to remove and refit so you can play around with that.

Great article Gaze - funny that, i used to have a Dax Cobra Replica. Nice car but the hood was a kit of parts that took about 2 hours to assemble ! So it had to go - I didn't use it as much as it should have been used.

Gaza is the sound generator you mentioned a standard fit on the 3 litre ?

Is there a thread on it, I've never heard of it you see *thick look*
