Well ,on my commute back home form Salford to North Wales I had a bit of an issue
with a traffic cone, just before the Chester services slip road, the car in front of me suddenly swerved
accross the motorway. I noticed too late that he was trying to avoid a traffic cone in the middle of the inside lane.
His back wheels clipped the cone and this was then thrown up in front of my car. I had no where to maneuver without
hitting another car/s in the middle lane so the full force of the cone was taken by my bumper.
I was doing 60mph at the time, decided to pull of at Chester services to check the damage
The front bumper is split on the underneath and the undertray is smashed with the temp probe hanging down on its wire.
Front wheel lining is smashed to pieces and I have damage to the passenger side sills. No issues with steering, Phew !!!
I'm gutted....Totally p****d off now, I called the highways agency to let them know about the cone, (I did see it in my rearview mirror re-joing the center carriageway ) And to get a patrol to remove the item before it causes a serious accident.
They are sending me a claim form, so my next question is has anyone ever claimed from the Highways agency before?
I know that they do payout but will I be covered for this?
I've now got to get this repaired and will have to cough up the cash to get this done, and then hopefully get the cash back.
Regards
Dan
