Condensation on rear screen of hard top (E85)

Had my hardtop on for 3 days now and when I come to it on a cold night there's condensation on inside of rear screen. It fits fine from what I can see too, no wind noise etc so slightly reluctant to tinker with it. Any advice?

I ve had a quick search but couldn't find much.

Also I'm not sure the heated elements are working either? But I thought the contacts were in the two pins that sit in the car.

Help please!

Cheers, Tim

Well assuming you don't take Chris up on his offer then I doubt anything is wrong. Just cold nights after warm humid days = condensation. Sounds normal, especially if the car lives outside all the time.

Theyheater should work and connect as you say simply by fitting the hood. Check you haven't disturbed the connectors on the corner mounting posts.

:D haha ah well that's good news! Not ideal because I can't see through it but at least it's fitted ok, but if waters getting in won't the rag top be getting wet? N cause damage?

Water won't be getting in as a result of fitting the hardtop, unless there is something seriously wrong, like the rear seal missing or damaged. For sure you don't want a continuously wet rear window and that would indicate a problem, not just for the hood, but the entire interior.

Are you sure that it's not just happened as a result of a couple of cold nights and secondly that the car is not already wet inside from a previous leak?

What about if your drains are blocked resulting in a pool of water which I'm guessing will be inside the car effectively, this wouldn't help so might be worth checking.

That's right SR in that if there were trapped water in the base of the drains, that would now be in effect inside of the car (as it would with the hood up)

Problem is a few cold days and condensation on cars that are not well aired soon appears on glass panels and usually in my experience on theh rear screen as there is no air movement there.

I'm a bit anal about water/damp in cars and park mine in the garage every night, roof down if it's dry or windows open (if hardtop on) and in winter on a bright day have the windows open. Amazing how damp closed cars can get.

Think about them being just about vertically below the mounting posts for the hardtop you fitted. Tehy drain out in the wheel arch in front of the rear wheels
