Condensation issue?

Hi guys

I'm looking for some advise..

Today I was on a little road trip with my gf and at one time she felt some water on her feet

She felt under the glovebox compartment and there was a lot of condensation

It was a hot day we had the top down and the AC was running to the max but still... Is this normal??

I don't think having such condensation inside of the car is a good thing..

I turn the AC off and she never felt any more water drop on her afterwards...

More likely you have a leak in your door membrane or seal. The other cause could be blocked roof drains which can force water into the cabin.

I disagree. Especially if the weather was humid. A/C condensate is normal during operation, it is normally collected and drained out under the vehicle. If the drain should become blocked, even partially, water can build up in the collection tray and slosh out into the foot wells whilst cornering.

In humid conditions, if insulation is missing from the A/C piping, water can condense on the pipes alone and drip off where there is no mechanism to collect condensate, except for one's feet.

Just a thought, i had this issue with another manufacturer and it was indeed the condensing pipe not even fitted!! The result was the passenger footwell and rear flooded after several days. It was a brand new car too but thats another story. Long and short of it, check the drains are clear from the aircon and check for the other stuff people have mentioned too.

Getting a little OT here. Let's keep this diversion short. I know many people feel as you do, that it is a waste. But others, including myself, feel there is a marginal benefit, especially in traffic and/or with the majority of the cooling air directed into the footwells. At some point the gain is not enough to offset the uncomfortable heat. Still, I am convinced the air con in the footwells raises the temperature I can tolerate 2-4C even at highway speeds, more than that in traffic. A waste of fuel? Yes, but petrol is relatively cheap this side.
