Hi and welcome. I don't believe it is covered under warranty especially of it's a AUC warranty. Basically the design of the rear lights was flawed and BMW changed this later on but you have to pay for faulty lights to be replaced, I believe it's around £300. You could always try and get some goodwill from BMW. Eventually it will manifest itself into causing the lights to fail and a warning will appear on the dash. Is it both rear lights or just the one? Any I have seen have always been the offside (drivers side) light only

I never did because i like to sort problems out myself instead of getting fobbed off. But if i was you, print off some of the earlier discussions from this board and go back to BMW and say its a design fault, which it is.
They used a porous seal on the back of the unit that looses water in the housing.
Failing that take the unit off and take it too them and prove a point. They are relatively easy to get off.
If no joy fix yourself. Dry the unit out and Bostick the seal back in place. Did this no problem since.

Mine got some in on holiday this year, again offside only!

I had the car washed at my local place and they are pressure washer kiddies so I put the dampness down to that.
