computer to TV

If you have an iPod Touch or a iPhone then you can use the Safari browser to get on iPlayer mobile, just then buy the Apple cables to connect to the TV (component or composite).
If you have a PS3 or Wii you can download an iPlayer app. I have only used the PS3 version but it's excellent - uses the upscaling technology so picture is really good. Not tried Wii as it is being a bugger with my WiFi at the moment.
Otherwise you can directly connect a PC / notebook to a flatscreen with VGA / DVI but you also need to send the sound over.
Failing all of the above you can buy other streaming devices. Personally I'm loving the PS3 at the moment - you can rent movies online apparently (HD too!).

do you have a Wii? If you do - iPlayer is a doddle with the new channel app they have for it

I don't have a Wii or XBox etc..
I just have a couple of trusty Laptops. The FetchTV Multiroom system looks about right.
The only problem I see with it is that only one box is WiFi, the smaller one needs to be hard wired. I'm sure I could make it work somehow however.

Re the Fetch TV multi-room...
Guess you could ask whether they support two of the 8000 boxes in the same way as the 7000 and 8000 bundle, and just buy 2 8000 boxes?
Also maybe ask if they can use a USB wireless adaptor to add wireless to the 7000?

I saw a USB Display adapter on aria.co.uk - or might have been dabs.com - it was meant for using a projector - you plug a usb stick into your laptop, then another into the DVI (might have been vga) port of the output device.
Was about £80 iirc. I'll have a dig for the link when I can, it looked a cracking idea for a piece of kit.
btw.. I hate Sky too - I have a Humax Freesat PVR (£250ish) which gives me HD, records everything brilliantly and now has Iplayer too

I have a PC upstairs with two Sat cards in recording FreeSat using some very good free software called GBPVR which inludes an iplayer plugin. This is then streamed to the fron room and any other room in the house that either has a PC/Laptop or by using a "PopCorn Hour" box which we have under the main TV.
Best of all its WAG friendly.

I really want wireless as I'm a bit of a freak for hiding the cables.
Buy a 2nd hand ps3 and stream all of your media content wirelessly from your computer. You can also watch iplayer on the ps3 as mentioned above and watch blueray dvds.....oh and did I mention it's also a fantastic games console. Simples
