Compliments

OK, so I'm a handsome guy and the 35is is in ideal colours - Melbourne Red & Ivory White - with the right wheels - 18" 5-spoke 295s - but I've never had so many compliments about a car in my life. Maybe it's the Auto Glym the Romanians use once in a while or ... whatever, I don't know, but it makes me smile.

No you're not....
No it isn't...
No they're not....
And no you don't, you're still in mid afternoon nap..... :poke: :poke:

To be honest I got a better reception from a rust-covered Alfa 156 that I briefly had - apart from the girlfriend at the time who called it the "pikey boy racer car"...

Maybe I'm much less handsome than you :(

I have always believed that no-one gives a damn about other peoples' cars. But,
For the first weeks after acquiring my E89, people approached me with compliments and questions, while buying fuel (Petrol) and even wanted to shake hands, and mine is a boring Titanium Silver. That soon stopped, completely. Then I acquired a somewhat flashy sedan in order to get the red interior and it started again, even more so, for a while. Haven't heard much since.
Don't get a big head!

Well women used to wear beauty spots which were supposed to stand out and draw attention to how lovely the rest of their face looked.
So maybe, when you're sat in the car............................

I work overseas and make it home to Texas about every 4 months. I’ll take my wife’s Valencia Orange E89 Z4, with Hyper Orange interior out a half dozen times while home and get at least 1-2 “Hey, nice car” or “Gorgeous car!”, usually while filling it up or on a weekend ride through the Hill Country.

Who in their right minds lets a bunch of Romanians (presumably a car wash place) anywhere near their zed. :o :o :o

The wife doesn't even get to help clean mine and I have known her for over 30 years.

I am ashamed to admit....but I did exactly that on Saturday. First wash in months, turned my grey/brown paintwork into alpine white and whilst I know they probably took more than dirt off the paint, for me its worth it...since then I feel proud of my car again and have had the roof down several times since.

I've done the whole "treat the paintwork like a babies bottom" thing, got all the gear and chemicals and have in the past spent whole days cleaning (nothing like a nice clean car with silky smooth paint) but you know what....

At the moment, I just can't be arsed with washing it myself. Car had lots of swirls when I got it so was never pristine to begin with and my car cleaning motivation comes and goes, so for now, I'm happy that it looks clean.

I had a Melbourne Red 3.5is with black upholstery. Do you think that the reason I didn’t get so many compliments was because I didn’t have the white upholstery?

Probably just because you were a doppelganger for Joseph Merrick. :P

Do you think my likeness to the Elephant Man really was a factor? 😀😀😀

Yeah I get at least one or two compliments on the car each day I take it out and I notice a lot of peoples heads turning as I drive by. The E89 is a beauty for sure.

The ONLY time in 36 years of driving I had a girl say 'nice car' in a seductive way in the street, was in.............a 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo.
First and last time. I am now presuming she was off her t*ts with drink or drugs. C'est la vie. :D

Are you sure you haven't got a Mclaren P1 stuck on your rear bumper? :poke:
