Completly knackered 18 wheel home refurb NEW painted pics p3

OK i am sober now and no hangover result

To be fair you know a lot more than me about painting i have no advice for you on that. But i refurbished my m3 wheels. And they had corrosion like yours and i found those little orbital type sander didn't work so well? I brought an attachment for a drill (cant remember the name of the brand?) Its basically a foam wheel on a mandrel that goes into the drill chuck and a sand paper belt fits over the foam. I was able to clean the wheels up really quickly and without that much hard work.

See I was wondering if there would be some sort of drill attachment like that. I was going to use my dremel with the small sanding wheel for the bolt holes but SWMBO has hidden it :headbang:

so this drill attachment is it basically a bigger version of the ones you would use in a dremel? Don't suppose you have a link for me do you? It would be much appreciated :)

Have you had a play with painting with a gun yet?

Yep that's a good description of it. Its about 4" diameter. I found that my battery drill wasn't up to the job. Had to resort to the old faithful plug into the wall drill.

I will have a look at lunch time for a link

Good work on those wheels but mainly commenting to say I have 'tea' at night too. Dinner is what the meal is called midday.

 I'm glad someone agrees! Seems to be dieing off lol.

Looking good. I had forgotten about your metallic green 'Hulk' wheels and how good they looked.
Is that 2 pack paint?
I assume that drum sander attachment MM linked to can be replaced with new standard belts ?

Oh boy that's one job I would never have the patience for. Good on you though.

Breakfast in the morning. Lunch at lunch time. Dinner at dinner time. Simple. And a "cup" of tea at night.

You are so wrong my friend. :D

Nah then, if tha's from Yorkshire tea is a meal!

Yeah I use 2k paints but the hulk wheels are candy. Basically paint silver first, the green is a tint so you still get the flake from the silver, then 2k clear on top. Wanted to do these candy blue but my dad will probably have them so gloss black it is!

2 pack paints give a very deep gloss and gives a really tough finish, ideal for wheels really. Nasty stuff though.
Black gloss is really in vogue at present.

Exactly better than powder coating imo, the black wheels I did were done is straight 2k gloss black wheras these will be clesr over base. Still flat black though metallics take the depth out of black, and from experience the wheels rarely catch the light to see the metallics properly anyway so this will be better I think.

Pics might be a bit muddled up here. Etch primer on bare metal then a few good coats of 2k primer.
