I would think they would fit all models? As far as I have been able to tell the pipe nun and diameter is the same on all but the 2.0l cars.

The system that is being developed will bolt on at the downpipe flanges, this means that on any car that doesn't run the N52 motor, it will delete the cats.

The 'si' or N52 engine models do not have cats under the floor like all other models do. They simply have a resonator. The N52's cats are up at the manifold.

N52 System:
1) Downpipe Flanges

2) Straight into the centre resonator - Then onto the collector, through to the rear silencer

Non-N52 System - Cats! Cats randomly positioned half way down the system, where the N52 has its Resonator

I may have this wrong, but that's what my research thus far has shown me.
If anyone can double check this against their own car 3.0i that would be ace!

Sorry from the picture you showed I thought thus was a back box system. The cats are where you say they are. But I am sure they could add them. Will cost a few quid more though I guess.

The image I showed in the first post was purely to show the tailpipe style that is likely to be used. Everything else in the post was aimed around the development of a proper cat back system.

Scorpion don't do things by halves ;)

Wowsers Sorry pal!! I was just skim reading and was trying to help. I shall leave you too it

Gotta make sure everyone's on the same page :) The devil's in the detail and all that!

I thought this was going to be just the back box, I can see now it's going to bolt on at the manifolds-I will be surprised if it's a bargain price because of the extra pipe work but will see what they come up with.
Regards

You will undoubtedly get a nice product from scorpion but I'm pretty sure it will be at the top end end of the market, generally around 320 plus for just a back box (plus fitting) and around 600 odd for a half system (again plus fitting) which is not unreasonable for a high end product but a bit over budget for me personally considering other options available on the market

Just as a quick update guys, I now have a development date and my car is booked in with Scorpion for the week commencing 7th March 2016.
I'll try my best to keep you guys updated as things progress.

Just a couple of weeks away until it goes in now :) Looking forward to seeing what they get up to!

Anyone developing an exhaust for the Z4 should look closely at the system you get on an Alpina Z4 IMO. The sound is absolutely sublime, could not be more perfect if you ask me and even better than a Z4m. No idea how they achieved it but I'm sure some of the exhaust bods out there will know.

Completely agree, heard Perry's last year & love it

So, am I right in understanding that that the system in question will be able to be bolted on to the bottom end of the manifold? If so, that would be marvelous.

That's correct yes!
What I've asked for is a complete cat-back system that bolts upto the downpipes on these two flanges (sat just behind the front Subframe)

Yeah it is! Unfortunately it's not mine. It's a pic I borrowed from an American forum.

Wish mine was that clean :)

Like others have said, price dependent and if they can do one to fit the earlier 3.0 then I could be interested!

Does anyone have an image of the 3.0i exhaust system including the manifolds?
I read somewhere that the cats that are under the car are just secondaries?
