He mentions the Beetle in the Z4 ad. I actually think it's an honest ad if a little bit stupid. As Stu says he should just take them back to lefthandland and punt them for what they are worth but I guess he's probably tried trading both on something here, the dealer wouldn't take either so he's maybe tried a classified ad and is now doing this simply as a way of getting something back on them as he can't be arsed taking them back to Poland. After all, people take a humping on trade ins all the time simply because they can't be arsed trying to sell privately.
How much value would be in this car in terms of parts? most of the interior and the lights are worthless, wheels look crap, got to assume that suspension/brakes etc will be worn and not worth much, not a massive market for worn/used engine parts. The body panels are probably the most valuable part or at least the aero parts are. Maybe a working roof motor too.

i did wonder myself if he just couldnt be bothered with the hastle of taking back to the continent. if he cant be bothered to get it converted for mot etc here then why bother for any other place in europe and then the costs/hastle of advertising/transporting over to a buyer could just make it not worth his while. it does seem a little odd he has several cars for sale but could it just be his wife and 2 kids all came over with their cars and now they want proper cars not some left hooker hence having a few?

Failed MOT, no tax and insurance. Could cost him a fortune to get back home with them, then he has to repair, test them and finally sell off.

the thing that struck me for it not being a scam is the language. its written well enough to be genuine. its just the small mistakes sort of grammar etc that i encounter often with eastern euro people. my other half is transylvanian and some of these mistakes are very similar to the errors she makes.
often scams are worded too badly or the english is just too odd (you know the ones from mr unbogo from aftrica with 55Million that he needs to get out of the country using your bank account) but this just strikes me as not too bad. either that or its just very cleaverly written to appear that way.

Simple answer is to contact the seller and ask about the thing, what works on it and the story etc, request an image of the Polish docs & of the VIN tags on the car (screen and floor inside door). A quick bit of research shows several registered companies run from the address (E European names) and nothing immediately untoward.

As far as I know if it's a personal car from an EU country in ownership of an EU national there shouldn't be any import, car or VAT duties as long as he's owned and used it outside the UK for over 6 months, although you may need to produce proof. You will need to get a certificate of destruction once finally disposed of and MAY be obliged to report the disposal to the Polish registration authorities but would need to check.
The daft thing is if he put this info on the advert he'd probably get a proper price for it :|
Don't forget if you know or believe it's stolen from abroad, and fail to take reasonable steps to satisfy yourself about it's legitimacy, you can be guilty of handling stolen property in the UK - more so if you pay well below market value. As they say on Dragon's Den, 'I'm out' but do some diggin' if you're in the biddin'

Actually I err on the side of it being genuine and hoping to get back some money and avoid the hassle of repatriating them.
