Motorways have speed limits!? Oops... :D

I always thought they were recommended minimums...

will it really make any difference? ive never heard of anyone being pulled for doing 80. but does this mean you will now not get pulled till you hit 90 :D

Try driving across the US, on the same Interstate the limit can change from 70 to 75 to 80, it all depends on what state you are in. Same road, different state and I'm not talking about lower speeds in built up areas, this is in the middle of nowhere .

80 is a bit fast for most main roads IMHO, my brakes are good enough but a large proportion of the others on the road still drive as if they are doing 30.....

Pennsylvania is 65 but you won't get a ticket on the Interstate unless you are driving over 75.

I remember blasting across Montana when there was no speed limit and as I crossed into Wyoming I thought " time to slow down". At that moment, all the other vehicles seemed to speed up to about 85 or 90. The exact opposite of my thoughts

Not a great move really. At present doing 82 you'll probably get a pull and a 'mind your speed sir'. Under new rules, 80 mph limit really means 80 mph...

Not sure it's a step forward unless you are someone who normally limits themselves to 75 mph...

If France is anything to go by - then yes. So much more relaxing to put it at about 90 and it saves so much time on longer journeys. When my parents visit me, it takes them 3 hours to get to Calais (they stick to the limits). I do the same journey in 2 hours...

But remember that in a lot of cars an indicated 80 is as low as 70mph actual....I always drive against the satnav and have the bonger set to go off if I exceed the limit by 5mph

i have 2 speeds, a driving to work speed which is very slow and laid back, then i have a driving home speed which is 'GET THE FCUK OUT OF MY WAY I'M COMING THROUGH' speed

If you get caught at 100 mph you're almost certain to get a ban.
They've got to catch you first - or have a photo of a car with my number plate on. Cloning is rife you know :P

I have NEVER got a speeding ticket in any of my BMW's, I did get one in my Volvo (thought the limit was higher than it really was), a ticket in my truck that was in error (thrown out in court) and a ticket in the GF's 325 for speeding up too soon leaving a construction zone. I do speed, but carefully. :D :D

10 kmh over is the limit here before you are guaranteed a ticket and 5mph over in the US is all I'll do.

That is so true with me too... in the morning i max out at about 65mph on the dual carriageway... but the way home i ummm..... lets just say i speed up to 70mph much quicker

So true love cruising through France does help the roads are quiet so no twats jumping into a gap that is not there causing you to brake hard could never cover the distance i do in France over here in the same time.
