You can contact BMW about the service history, I did a few weeks ago and they had the dates the car was in a BMW garage. Not having a full-service history can affect its resale. Suggest you try talking to them first to see if you can come to an agreement.

Do you have proof that he stated FSH, if so contact trading standards etc, this is false advertising and the guy does not have a leg to stand on

I've lost count of the amount of advert by dealers and enthusiasts who claim their cars have FSH when it's nowhere near it.

I take what they say with a pinch of salt and check for myself. Lots of service histories have been faked on older cars.

How old is the car? What mileage and price did you pay? What servicing has been missed and what service history does the car have?

The second key not being a genuine BMW isn't really a complaint if the key functions as it should.

I don't understand this. If it was supposed to have 10 dealer stamps, why didn't you see them before you bought the car? Where was the dealer saying the history was....with BMW?

E89s have a physical service book for stamping and details.

2009 Z4 E89, 57000 miles, almost pristine condition, it was supposed to have 10 service dealer stamps, but as far as BMW see, it only has 1 BMW service stamp (in 2020), but very little mileage since then. BMW have quoted £600 for a catchup service.
i know i paid a little over the odds (bearing in mind it was peak season) but i thought it was perfect - and had a couple of body kits put on. £8500.
The dealer seemed so sincere and suckered me in - i know i was a fool..

Sounds like you at least have a nice car - in your shoes I would just move on and start enjoying it, but then I guess we are individuals and so look at things differently.

As Beerman said in previous post - dealers often have their own interpretation of 'full service history' or even simply get their wires crossed if not particularly organised on the admin side if they sell a bunch of different cars. On a 15 year old car, wouldn't now be taking it anywhere a main dealer but just needs a good onceover by a reputable indie, as if it is already in good nick as you say, then missing records won't affect the future value that much if at all on a car of that age if visibly looked after. All imho of course!

Is it a 23i or a 30i?

To get a 15 year old car with 57,000 miles in near pristine condition is rare. The previous owners have clearly taken care of it. That makes the lack of service history strange especially when the car was newer.

Does the car have iDrive? Anything on that?

Maybe the car will be known to the forum and someone can help fill in some blanks?

its a 2.5L (sDrive23i) in a lovely Deep Sea Blue metallic paint, with beige interior.
I agree the lack of service history (with BMW) is really weird - they may have used local garages, as the only BMW engagement for service was in 2020, before then there was only "key" or "warranty" contact.

The full history service was in a whatsapp and we have video and photo evidence from the dealer saying it existed and he has still never admitted it doesnt exist.
Trading standards is next on our list after the small claims court
Trading standards and the ASA should be before you go to the small claims court. They may prosecute for you.

As for contacting fany company that you have a dispute with and are ignoring your calls, social media is the way to go. Facebook and Tik Tok and any others you can think of, they hate that.

A sad story that is a warning, never take dealers at their word.
As I live in mid Norfolk this is close to home. Had I seen the advert I could have been tempted.
I often wonder if buying from a dealer for the benefit of a dubious warranty is worth the extra money.
I know there are sharks posing as private sellers so it is like a mine field out there for buyers of early E 89 cars .

I'd be gobsmacked if this car didn't have early service history with BMW. Take it into your local dealer and they should be able to read history details from the key.
