Comments on seller's price in adverts

I've been on here long enough to know that censoring comments on for sale is not really helpful to anyone, be that price, history, description or otherwise. We'd have people ripped off 10x more often than the odd time a high price was unjustly challenged.

If people want to post without anyone able to comment, good or bad, then they go to Ebay or Autotrader and hide there. This is an enthusiasts site and adverts are not placed on a commercial basis. If things get out of hand mods step in and resolve, but in general I feel members get a better service knowing folks on here weed out 'bad adverts' and generally look out for each other.

Have to agree with this.

Spot on

I don't think comments are necessary on for sales threads.

Rarely adds anything to the advert and encourages bumping to the top all the time.

But then again how will Andysat keep up his post count.

Some sound points, I think it's very much forum business to shout when someone's offering an item that's miss-described and blatantly overpriced, or a car that's got known issues like accident history or problems. I'm not so sure about plopping on someone's ad' with ill informed guess work and deliberate price kicking. So I wouldn't like to to see closed threads just a bit of thought and self discipline before knocking the price?

My bad experience was on another forum of course :D

if you sell on an open forum then you can expect comments

Agreed, though while most are constructive, a little more thought in a few cases wouldn't go amiss, especially with a couple of like for like examples justifying their own point

Nothing to do with post count-I just like to show encouragement!

Glwts
What's that stand for?? :)

From the urban dictionary

glwts
Abbreviated form of "Good luck with that s**t." Usually said to someone trying to accomplish the impossible.
eg:- "My dream is to have sex with a supermodel."

I always thought you were wishing somebody good luck with the sale, it seems however your dreaming of shagging Kate Moss
