Comfort pack?

Hi, looking at the 2014 price list it shows -508 Park Distance control (PDC) front and rear as being part of the package.

Looking in the main brochure it says/shows that if you have the PDC you get a visual indicator in the Control display! But on another page it says that if you don't select navigation as an option you get a storage compartment on the top of the dash!..... where the other picture shows the PDC indicator!?!?!

So what do you get if you just go for the comfort pack PDC?

Thanks

Ok thanks for the quick reply ;)

The other thing I've just noticed is the Exterior & interior mirrors - folding, automatically dimming is part of the comfort package also.

However, if you were to buy those as a pack on their own it's £430, but under that package it shows that you can buy one without the other: Exterior mirrors, folding £200. Then under that is lists Rear-view mirror, automatically dimming £180, total = £380. So why is the pack with them together £50 more??? Something I'm missing? :)

Thanks again.

lol yeah it can get a bit of a headache with all the 430 includes 431 not with 313 bla bla bla, it's just a constant flicking back and two to see what they are referring to lol.

But I agree as a package it is a good deal :)

I think you'll find that the folding door mirrors at £200 are not auto dimming whilst they are as part of the package.

I assume you're kidding, but just in case, they dim using electrochromism (tinting the glass by applying an electric charge)

lol the older drivers amongst us will remember the little tab under the mirrors that you used to just flick to do the same job, but yes I am aware of how electrochromic technology works. I've had dimming mirrors on a few of my previous cars, although I couldn't get it as an option on the 370Z for some reason...yet they could when I was in the States!!! Hmmm ever thought we get a bad deal on spec in the UK???

Or all other drivers as it's not actually that common as an option in cars really. Also something that people don't really think is worth the money unless they've already had it. However the wing mirrors are very weird and they seem to work when they fancy and not just when you have dazzling lights behind. It's usually when I'm driving when it's dusk and they catch my attention being rather greeny/blue. Must look really weird to other drivers as it's rather noticeable even from behind.

You will find that the side mirrors work in conjunction with the sensor on the rear view mirror, they just look a different colour as you're looking at your side mirrors through tinted side windows! next time you see it put your side window down and you will see a slight change in colour.

As I said above I can see the change when driving at dusk this is roof up, roof down, windows up, windows down. The rear view mirror doesn't dim at the same time but yes the sensor does make the tree mirrors dim. I've also been behind the car and can see the change in the mirrors even as a driver behind. The change in colour is very noticeable especially as it leaves a border around the mirror.

However when you get your Z4 and if you have this option you will see what I mean.

Infact here is a E46 and it's quite noticeable and bmw have had complaints that the dimming was too dark and changed the coding from 2013 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jA5PKOzmQ_0 bad this E90 retro fit is more like the Z4 and yes it is that dark https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3cab3bIMaIo hence why it's noticeable you'll also note they have their windows down but as I said you'll see that for yourself when you have your car.

My apologies if you took my comment the wrong way, I didn't mean to doubt your observations :) After looking at the videos you posted I can see how dark you mean. I've had them on a few makes of cars and none have been that noticeable!

PS: Are Peter Vardy in Edinburgh any good? I've been talking to a guy called Euan Blackwood from there and he seems very helpful.

No offence was taken, I realised that on other vehicles they may not have been as noticeable unlike these.

I bought my last car from there, for buying they aren't too bad, I'd recommend them over Eastern for buying and as you wouldn't be using them for anything else you probably would get a good deal, they do always do better than Eastern who are the other dealership in Edinburgh who I first used when I was 17.

I bought my E88 from Peter Vardys and it was pretty painless and quick, not as quick as Lloyds Newcastle but their sales guys are always very good but then salesmen usually are.
