Comfort or Normal?

I've noticed either Comfort or Normal stamped next to the centre console switches on the driving mode settings on e89s.

Just curious as to who has what and if there is a theme or reason. I've seen both on manual and autos and through the engine range.

Is it age specific?

Is it really just random?

For the record, mine is a 2011 manual 23i with 'Normal'.

Standard suspension doesn’t change damper rates a la the adaptive set up, I’m guessing that’s where the “comfort” moniker comes in? :?

It's on lots of UK spec cars also. Seems to be more 'normal' than 'comfort' though.

Was the UK spec e89 made in more than one factory?

For what it's worth, my Jap market import is 'Normal' / Sport / Sport +
