I fitted a 3rd Party “Reinhold” module for the remote opening and closing of the roof on the E85. The module works OK most of the time, but I have an intermittent problem.
On sending the “Open” command the roof goes down correctly, (from roof and windows closed) whereas the windows drop around 6 inches, the roof retracts fully and stows, then the windows return to the full up position. This works 100% of the time.
The problem occurs around 50% of the time where after sending the “Close” command the windows drop 6 inches, the roof extends and closes correctly but the windows do not then close fully and stay at the 6 inches down position. If I reinitiate the close command from this state the windows then close fully and correctly.
Clearly my suspicion was that either the Reinhold module was faulty or incorrectly adjusted. However, I have since noticed that the same issue exits when using the comfort closing feature on the driver’s door lock. When holding the barrel fully CCW the roof should close and windows also. This is the inbuilt “feature” the Reinhold uses.
Any experience of comfort closing issues, and suggestions? As said, it looks less likely the Reinhold is at fault as the standard feature is a bit flaky. I am not sure if the standard feature worked flawlessly before fitting the Reinhold, I never checked!
The roof operation works fine when I use the centre console buttons, so it seems purely related to comfort closing.
I have reset and re-calibrated the anti-trap feature on both windows as this was my first thought…
I can also remove the module to seee if this makes any difference.
