One of my favorite artists was at the height of his career in the form of Ziggy stardust, he for sure wasn't sticking to bland colors
I saw him perform as Ziggy in 1973 and 1974 :D

Im amused you have no concept of how design, colour or visual aesthetic is introduced although you have lived through around 6 major periods of movement.

I learned about this at school, not through wikipedia but sorry didn't get your humour which is why I thought you were ignorant.

Please read. The 1970s at the time was ONE the worst economic decades there was no argument. At the time it was the worst. I was referring to the hippy/environmental style that came from the 60s and was inspired by india hens the brown natural/neutral colour pallet.

The reason why these companies are introducing these bright and colourful 'mad' colours is because of post modernism a rejection of modernism, nothing to do with the climate. Think you confuse my points with economics.

First off Tom it is palette, your spelling and grammar lets you down. Your use of homophones is particularly lax. You make quite a few simple mistakes which probably reflect a slipshod education. Or it may be slight dyslexia, in which case I apologise for mentioning it. I expect people have mentioned methods of rooting out homonymic mistakes before and it just isn't worth it for an internet post.

EDIT -- sorry Tom. I went to put my tea on while replying. You have already confirmed you have dyslexia a few posts back and I won't mention it again.

Secondly postmodernism, doesn't apply in the way you think, the colours you highlight are more modernist that post, (any of those car colours could be sourced in a deLemicka or a Mondrian), post modern colour is a canard. If you are quoting a postmodernist take that you have found in the copy of those marketing a selection of stronger colours in current cars I am afraid you are quoting twaddle. I suspect the marketeers are inadvertently conflating eclectic sourcing of influences from the past with the pluralist deconstruction of trending cultural norms believing it to be a postmodern narrative.

I'll quote SWMBO, from when we saw a Sepang ///M in Edinburgh the other day....."I like the Bronze car...." Maybe it's 'cos the Olympics are on :?

[/quote]

Did you ask her why all the silver cars for the last 10 years then? :poke:

Wives. - gotta love em! :D

Very unnecessary comment.

Just to send this thread spinning away in another direction..

.. can you bring me back some Prawn crackers pls? :D

It needs to go in another direction. Everybody's going on the naughty step soon. "wait until your moderator gets home!" :telloff:

I too went to art school. Unfortunately, I spent a sizeable proportion of the hours that I should have been attending lectures or studying in some way, shape or form, down the pub instead, drinking anything that was cheap and trying desperately to chat up girls who were far more interested in long-haired poetry-quoting painters. Plus, in the intervening years - and probably because of my youthful alcohol intake - I've forgotten more than I ever learned about the theory of art and design.

So, for that reason.... I'm out

Everyone has there own preference otherwise we may all be driving round in brown or black cars.

But seriously there is no place for direct (and I would say personal) insults. We all know that people on this forum have a great deal of knowledge in both the car world and other areas in which they either work or are hobbyists. Passion is one thing insulting is another and one that has no place here.
Perhaps it's time :topicclosed:

I have a major period of movement at about 8am every morning. That's 7 a week. AND I was born in 1973.

Most 'movements' become iconic only after they have passed :P

*edited* because I got bored trying to make a simple point in amongst all this impressionism
