So I am seriously debating repainting the motor.

Paintwork is shagged on it. A polish will not sort it so not going to bother.

Back on the day when e36 m3s were king I really wanted one of two colours.

Dakar yellow

Techno violet.

I don't think Dakar will work on a z4 and I do love techno violet.

Anyone ever seen one in these colours?

I was gonna do down this route but decided it was pointless on a 3k z4.

It was either Atlantis blue or velvet blue for me, however would like to see techno.

Lots of colours I'd like to see. Loved techno violet, purple silk might be a modern alternative. I was always a fan of calypso red, I think the modern equivalent is vermilion red.

However, much like the CSL wheels that seem overdone, BMW have ruined the colour I would have gone for. Estoril blue. Loved an estoril M3 back in the days when it was practically the only car you could get it in. Now every 1 series through to 4 series seems to come in it

However, much like the CSL wheels, one day I might just do it anyway!

It won't cost me anything to do it bar the paint cost and my own time. I have full access to a body shop as my dad was in the trade for decades.. and many years of forced teenage Labour skilled me up.
I think techno would suit the car down to the ground.
I did think of Estoril but pretty much every bad manz in his leased 220d has it at the moment.

I was even considering chromaflair for the sake of it. Surprising how expensive that stuff is.

The old Alfa blue / gold pearl would look pretty good. .. But it's not techno. Purple is such a nice colour.

Another issue is doing this means the rotten 108s will have to go.

There’s always another M purple...Daytona Violet...

...or a colour that lots of people will assume is the common Estoril blue, Avus blue...

Alternatively go for one of the Standox Exclusive schemes like Rocket Red...

Rocket red is a really nice example.

The z though has a very grey dashboard. Not sure if reds will work with it. Purple and grey goes quite well vs purple and black.

About 5 years back one of the members did a complete respray in Mora Violet - it looked lovely!

That’s what Ruby Black looks like, but on,y under forecourt fluorescent lighting

Techno Violet gets my vote.... was a lovely colour on the E36, I think it'll look well on a Z4... not the Dakar yellow though, I think you're right on that one, it'll look a bit odd!

My e30 is calypso red and has a grey dash and it works just fine... not convinced it would suit a Z4 but the e30 wears it very well!

Hey OP, thought anymore about this? Been thinking of getting mine wrapped; I've not long bought it and in the main, the paintwork is good for 15yo, however a previous owner has done a quick wet-sand & rattle-can job on one of the side skirts which only made itself apparent after a few nights of rain and a quick hose down. Not the end of the world but was thinking on getting a satin/frozen wrap as I like the car in silver already.

I've always wanted to see one in TVR Chameleon. I think the shape would look amazing. If BMW colours though Royal blue.

Chromaflair is £1k a litre though.. thought about the pink and green one. Then found the price of it
