Colour matched brake cooling ducts ...

Has anyone colour matched their brake cooling ducts to the body paint ?
Just thinking that might give the front end a bit more visual depth ...
Especially on a light coloured Zed ...

Thanks Liam
That would be nice if a photo shopper had some time.

Im in the middle of prepping a Z4M bumper conversion.
Actually all the repairs are complete and the various holes for reflectors and washers ports are filled.
I struggled with the tow hook port and finally decided to fill it in as well.
Only those who track at Silverstone mentioned it was a requirement for Track Days.
I can always drill it out if need be.

After seeing a red Zed somewhere on here with the grill slats colour matched...
Well that got me thinking
Not sure if that would work on a white car ...
Looked good on the red one though.
But right now I have 3 sets of grills so I might just sacrifice one set and see how it looks.
It's not like swapping out grills is a difficult task.

At the same time I saw another white M on here that had an aero kit under the rear bumper...
The white colour extended well into the underbody and because of that, well you could appreciate the architecture much more than if it was black.
So I thought about the brake ducts and considered if a similar treatment wouldn't work ?

I'll post this now and return later with some pics ...

Cheers Bumpy

I think on silver may look alright...

Bur personally i like the matt effect of them... Matches the centre grill.

My car's black, so can't see me painting the ducts when I fit my bumper

It seems pretty pointless to me, negligible difference! They're under a cast shadow most of the time anyway.

I would prefer them to be ducted to the brakes rather than cooling the leading edge of the tyre! :poke:

Ye gloss black would be nice. Only prob is they are stone and grit traps. They would be scratched chipped and nakard in no time. Wish I hadn't done my grills in gloss black they are a chip nightmare.

I was thinking the hydrographics route as they apply a ton of lacquer on top

Only think putting me off is removing the bumper (again)

I think if you were to do them gloss black you'd have to match the kidneys and the lower grill to match :?

Thanks mmm-five for your photoshop pics.
Very much appreciated !!!

Right now I have repaired and primed my M Bumper.
It is primed and ready to go to the painters ..
I would post some pics but I loaned the camera to my daughter to download the Italy Pics we took on holiday ..
When returned the patch cable was left out so ...
Later I guess..

So I have the two brake ducts ..
I got one from BMW Canada for $113. plus 13% tax
Yikes but what could I do.

And after mmm-five's efforts I decided to do it ...
So the ducts are primed as well ...
I used adhesion promoter followed by bumper primer ...
Time will tell on that one ...
But if it doesn't work an easy enough correction back to black.

I have ordered a couple of small led fog lights that I plan on mounting at the base of the brake ducts ..
That is as deep as possible into the duct with the mount attached near the firewall)
And hooking those up to the fog light connections from my 3.0si face lift bumper.

Now I'm considering the kidney grills.
I have the stock pair which are anthracite with chrome bezels
Ones I bought to mod the front... matt black with matching bezels
And the ones that came with the M bumper ..
black with chrome bezels ...
Gawd so many grills to pic from ..
I saw a red zed with red grills ...and I thought would similar ...white grills work on mine ?
With my abundance of grills, Well it's worth an experiment ...
It's not like I will ever be grilless, and with all the spares I can change back to whatever ....
So Im planning on painting the grill inserts white as well ...
Then seeing if it works best with chrome or black grill bezels ....

Sometimes you just gotta take a risk and see what happens ...

Pics will arrive sometime ..Honest !
