Colour change advice

I think you might be right. £1900 + VAT for a high quality wrap vs £5-6k for a respray. Having chatted to Vinyl Installs in Salisbury I’m now less concerned about fade or damage. Going into look at the swatches next week but looking online Fir Tree Green metallic looks an option…

I know stripes have not generally been received favourably on here in years gone past but I thought these 2 AI mock ups were interesting. Quite like it…although possibly not myself for doing so!

I knew no good would come of AI, and this proves it. That is probably the worst thing I have seen since Prince Andrew's Newsnight interview.

I like it too, although perhaps for an occasional car with selected use or a track car, rather than an everyday means of transport.
Thanks, I appreciate that. I possibly don’t need encouragement! But this is an occasional car for weekend fun and an occasional road trip. The stripe could easily be removed. Anyone else think this is age appropriate (51) and not too hideous!?

I think the OP should do it if the car is going to be a keeper for many years and the condition of the car is such that he feels he is unlikely to find a better “doner” car. Others have said that he should wait. I haven’t seen a dark green one for sale since I have been in this forum (since 2018) (don’t always look so I could have missed one) and finding a good one rather than a so so one reduces every year. Painting the car in a standard E85/6 colour would improve selling prospects. These will not be collectors cars ever but good ones well maintained will always attract some money. Having it sprayed well (eg windows out/ trim off) will not devalue it but money spent will not be recouped. It helps if the doner car has a black basis (eg the under bonnet is black as most of the dark colours are).

A wrap looks like a great option, especially if you can get a metallic wrap - im not a fan of matte finishes or frozen anything, I like a nice shiny metallic.

Though not the stripe. In my opinion, only a few cars can pull off stripes, and most of them are American muscle cars or a ford gt.

Mine is currently in the body shop for some work, getting the bubbly arches fixed and a full respray. It is going to work out in the region of 5 to 6K give or take as it is having new rubbers, badges, new windscreen etc. So there is a rough guide for you from down south in Bournemouth.
