Collecting Zed on Weds

Hi folks thanks for all the info on here, I called into my local BMW dealer a couple of weeks ago intent on buying a new 3 series coupe. As I was walking around he showroom I spotted a black 58 plate 2.0 Z4 amongst the other cars. It had 80, yes 80 miles on the clock and is pristine. After a few mins talking to the sales rep the deal was done and I am collecting it on wednesday.

As I am trading in my trusty 5 series it means I will have to buy a cheap 4 door as well but the Z just bit me and I had to have it.

First thing to do it change the RFT's, as this is one of the last of the Zeds will it have an ipod connection and are there any other things to make the experience even better.

Can't wait, roof down, shades on etc

Thanks ksher, looking at your previous list it reads very similar to mine, just seen a 51 plate 320d which may fit the bill.

Ive read the stuff about cleaning the car and its all a bit over my head, anyone got an easy way to care for a black Z4.

Cleaning? Wash it when its dirty.

Seriously, the only additional thing you need is an AutoGlym roof care kit (a shampoo and a protector spray) and you're done.

From 5-series to Z4 is a big change. I am still missing the space, comfort and gadgets (i.e. idrive, heated seats, visual parking display, etc) in my E60. I only changed my car less than 2 months ago.

Is your Z4 a sport model? What is your current 5-Series? Straight-six?

Must admiy I'm a bit apprehensive as well, going from a 523msport to a Z4 2.0 sport but although the 5 is a great car it had a few little niggles that where starting to get on my nerves hence the change.

Fingers crossed this will be the best summer for last 100 years so we can all enjoy our zeds.

You will miss the straight-six engine. Remember to add pictures after collecting your new car.

Hi had my zee for a whole week now, 2.5 on 05 from Autoquake, great value and well impressed, works well alongside my e46 320d sport tourer, first soft top for me and not too sure about the roof cleaning routine?

I asked the same question month ago. Most people don't wash the fabric roof during every car wash (just rinse with clean water). I use BMW convertible hood cleaner and impregnating agent. :)

Yep - wash it if it needs it and follow with a protector (they make water just run off, and as a consequence also stop dirt getting worked in). I wash perhaps every 3 months at most; no problems at all.

Welcome and dont forget pictures

late model cars should come as standard with the AUX in connection, not sure about an specific iPod connection though...

Well got her yesterday, when its stops pissing down in Manchester I'll take piccies.

Very pleased and very surprised with how good the 2.0 engine is after all my straight sixes.

I want to use my ipod/iphone for music to what do I need just to plug into the aux socket near the centre console. :D

Hi and welcome, you just need a 3.5mm - 3.5mm headphone type lead (Halfrauds sell them)

oy and remember :worthless:

You realise there problems with Zeds... the sore face and dry teeth caused by all the smiling you will be doing, having to get a table near the window so you can see it and tripping over thing when you are looking back at it when leaving it... Enjoy Zeddom :P

Must say this is my 4th from Williams Bolton and the service gets better, everything was done inc plate transfer and the new showrooms are fab, the car was in its own room with my name on the door. Made me feel very special indeed.

What a nice touch that was, if only other dealers were the same  Things like that would make car buying so much more enjoyable :)

Well had it 2 days and the grin gets bigger and bigger, decent weather so top down this afternoon.

Fantastic is not a big enough word.

Not sure what options I have on top of standard, its got b/tooth/mv2 alloys leather heated seats, pdc, aux in which I think are all standard.
