Cold weather = more power!

Anyone else notice their engine has more poke since the temperature drop? I'm in the south of England so the temperature has only been low for the last week or two. I can definitely tell a difference, even in 6th gear at 40mph, suddenly the engine doesn't lag so much when I press the throttle! I guess it's the denser air.

Dense air is always beneficial the power output bad for economy. In addition most tires lose a bit of traction with lower temps. Sometimes physics suck.

Yep! Mines like a scalded cat at the mo :D and even better when theirs a bit of mist in the air

Mines always like a scalded cat. :D Side ways at every bump and crest the past few days.

300mile round trip from cwll to somerset on monday to sign up for a new van, great excuse for a blast up the 303, lots of speed cams and traffic cars so lots of cruise control , about 77 on the speedo and returned 24mpg ave , was happy with that. first long trip since i bought it 18 months ago, drove perfectly , worst thing with the over harsh springs was the rumble strips before every major roundabout on the 303 and the concrete sections of the a30 , tyre noise was awful ! good fun trip though :driving:

Can't say I have noticed it so much, but the car is new to me at the moment.

Be careful out there though . . . . . these colder inlet temperatures make a really big difference to some turbocharged cars!! :o

True, but you're also likely to have heater on, heated seats on (assuming roof is down, which it should be!), lights on, so this will all suck some of the power gained from the denser air.

AD08s are like Fred Flintstone tyres in the cold. Not realized before as the competition car is barely used in the winter and runs on Uniroyal Rain Experts when it is.
